From what I have heard the TP motors are similar to the Reedy motors. Looking at the design they sure build similarly.....

The fast guys use it. That's all.

Use 2mm x 6mm bolt. JC uses 2mm x 4mm and it's just not enough threads.
And no, they are not to long and do not stick out.
You will find these in the Airplane section at your LHS.

Ball diff's are much lighter (don't rob as much power) and are easier to adjust to changing track conditions.

Pro's: you can fine tune your diff to your liking depending how loose or how tight your set it. It puts power down to each side when needed.

Con's: Takes a bit more maintenance like checking tightness and more frequent rebuilds. Gear diff is like the RONCO "set it then forget it" for longer intervals than the ball diff. Overall the performance gain out weighs the con's. Although there are those that say otherwise I'm sure.

Local track runs a 17.5 no boost, blinky class. I just picked up a Peak 17.5 for now, till some other motors come in, but wanted to get some clarifying info answered.

I did a quick test, using an 81 Spur with a 30T pinion, and it didn't feel all that fast.

Chris, assuming you're talking about PRCR, start at 30/75 and go from there

So when running the Losi pistons, What is everyone using to "shim" up the slight size difference? Anyone have a part number?

try 1 less washer, softer spring, maybe taper pins will work better? I change between no and 1 washer in front. Never liked 2

I used some motor shims I had laying around from some old brushed motors.
I believe they were .012 thick.

Ball Diff won't make you faster, it'll actually slow you down the 1st couple tries as you get used to building them. Eventually, you'll want one.... if you know someone who can build and set one for you... that would be best way to learn the 1st time.

BTW, OCRC is an awesome clay track that can be loose without some Tire Sauce.
