AkA has a very limited tires selection for 1/10 buggy. I wonder why he picked them.

WHAT, you think cav is going to Kyosho? That would be interesting...

Because of the AKA/Kyosho "partnership". Kyosho is to announce the signing of 4 high profile drivers in the coming weeks. Can you read between the lines

I recently go to do a bit of carpet running with the b4.1 I picked up. Set it up per the standard setup online for big bores but used whatever piston setup mine came with and the oil recommendations of 30W rear, 35W front losi and the Kyosho front whites and gold rear springs, shorty back with one 1 spacer up front, maybe alittle thicker than normal spacer.
Anyway, the car was also setup with some HB beams in the rear and fullslots up front, pink compound I believe for both or maybe softer. with this setup, the tires hooked up great. very controllable, quick change of direction. I did have one mishap where the screw sheered off on the shock to a-arm mount, so I had to move my shocks to the outer a-arm position and to be honest, the car actually felt a bit better. The only thing I noticed that I may work on a bit more was that I could get the rear to step out off throttle easier than I like, but, other than that it was excellent. Loads of steering. Also used Sticky kicks blanco compound and it really hooks up on carpet. For electronics, I use: - Speed Passion GT2.1 with latest mod software - Speed Passion V3.0 Competition 8.5 motor - JR 9100S servo - Futaba antenna-less receiver with 4PL radio Very happy with this setup, motor runs cool, and is very smooth. Same with ESC. I got a box full of barcode-ish tires to try from various manufacturers, will report back next time I get to run on what works better but I think the tread patterns are great for carpet. I will also try some scrubs that came with too for the fronts. Thanks again |

yeah, a conversion for the euro guys and the normal chassis for the US. I do not believe a combo car would be better than a conversion. To satisfy everyone, it would need to be just as good or better than the Conversion kits (xfactory/c4.1) and just or good or better than the current rear motor for the US. I wont say it is impossible, but I think it is unlikely that anyone can make a convertible car that is better on both types of config. One of the configurations would be an after thought. Mostly likely with AE the Mid motor would be an after thought. The win worlds with the rear motor config. So why would their main focus be mid motor? Again, AE making a conversion kit would be better probably for all parties.
I run the C4.1 and its an amazing car, like driving a 4wd, but the ali sheet chassis bends. An AE plastic tub version of the chassis with mid motor 4 gear transmission would be spot on. I know from UK AE drivers (Neil Cragg, etc) that AE have taken the C4.1 to look at and run, to give input into the next car. US market isn't the only one for AE/thundertiger, lots worldwide run on astro and carpet, where the B4.1 rear motor just can't compete at the top level. I doubted the B4.2 will be mid motor, but when you look at what's needed to convert i to a C4.1, it's actually not that much, a place chassis, rear wishbone pin braces, new gearbox, and shocktower. An AE made conversion would be excellent. |
Those who use the JC battery hold down nuts, is it worth anymore than the AE ones? I lost one of my hold down nuts for the AE ones as the vibration caused it to come off while running, but was debating if I should get the JC ones or not. Also any tips to keep the AE ones locked down would be nice.

I used those collars and I do like them better but right now I have the Avid two piece collars. With that said did you scuff a portion of the AE collars so that the set screw seats in better? I went down fairly far to get it right. |
Does putting wd40 on your tires make themsoften up and hold better on the track.I run on indoor high grip clay thanks guy's

Would never happen at this point in his AE career. He's the face of associated right now. That would be a huge loss from a marketing standpoint.

I was checking the setup sheet for Jarod at nats. He didnt even run the AKA tires. He ran JC and proline tires. Are they not required to run the sponsors tires? I ask because I am not sure how the aka tires will work at nats. Unless maybe they have new tires coming out soon.

the longer you leave it the more it soaks in. the tyre life will be drastically reduced... |
hmm, I was reading it was controlled for stock classes. And I ment worlds, not nats for Cav. They are raqcing at the aMAIN track, not sure if the rebars or vectors work well there.
Just looked. Cav and Maifield did not run the same tires at nats. Not according to the setup sheets. According to NEO, the stock class ran controlled tires. Didnt say anything about mod. |
