Finaly raced my new B4.1, qualified 5th out of 5 and finished 1st in main....

Had some issues in qualifying, the chassis flexes like a mofo so one of my motor wires popped off and shorted in qualifier 2. Half ass solder job I guess.

I ran the Cavalieri setup to start with, silver rear springs and 32.5 AE oil in the shocks and it was crap for the dusty clay track. Switched over to the standard setup with green rears, 25 rear oil and 30 front, threw on some jconcept double dees and the car was much easier to drive. I'd stay away from the Cav setup unless the track is super high traction.

I'm always leery of using another person's setup. It's a setup for a particular person and track conditions. That is why Cav used the carbon arms, to take away some of the bite.

I wonder if you were to use the carbon front and rear chassis braces, this would take away some of the chassis flex. Another tuning option?

Carbon chassis braces? Is this a new 4.1 tuning option, or has this been around for a while?

This has been an option ever since the first Factory Team B4.

I see setup sheets indicate adding 1/2 oz there and 1/4 oz there, but how are they determining that? left to right balancing is easy to understand, use chassis balancers along the centerline of the car and place the weights accordingly. what about front to back? Do you balance in a way to give the CG dead center front to back and side to side, or is it different? do you measure overall length and divide to give centerline?

would you use this to balance?

or some other means?

What is everyone's take on this?

Placing the weight on the chassis side to side (like when you add the 1/2oz by the reciever) is to balance the chassis because the esc side is way heavier, ie...theres an inbalance. When we're putting the weight centralized (like in front of the tranny or on the front bulkhead) its not to "balance" out the chassis. Its too affect the handling in a desired way. Like adding weight to the front or rear slows the reaction of that end of the car.

Thanks for the link RA99GT. Going by the durometer rating they seem like they might be a bit on the hard side. Have you tried them?
