Does anyone make a metal gear diff case?

Hi guys, sorry if this has already been discussed but I've recently purchased the Team Associated hex adaptor kits and found the lack of directions (and nuts) frustrating to say the least.
Just a few questions: Do you need to put any of the shims from the hex packet on the front axle? Do you need to install any of the plastic washers when joining the steering block in to the caster block? Originally there was two, but as the hex steering block is larger than the original it doesn't appear that any are needed now.* Do you just leave the already installed two shims on the rear axle and simply remove the wheel spacer? Thanks, Brett |

Also, what do you think about the Avid clamp adapters Acill? I currently have stock AE plastic ones on the front and JConcept aluminum's on the rear, but of course the clamping screw on the one stripped out  I hear the new Avid one's are not as easy to strip out, what do you think? Thanks! |

Working on my SC10 is beginning to bug me as I dont have proper SAE drivers - is there a metric screw kit available somewhere?

http://www.hexcrews.com/associated-s...rsion-kit.aspx However, I must say, even if it does work... it is almost $35! I mean, if your gonna spend $35 then you mine as well just pick us a set of SAE drivers. That way you will have them for any trucks in the future that use SAE hardware as well. But, that's just my 2-cents  |

For the money, these hex drivers are hard to beat. http://www.glitchrc.com/proddetail.php?prod=LBR2000

The thing is, I live in metric land and all of my other cars are metric (onroad, 2wd, 4wd, etc). So I'd have a set of SAE drivers but would only use it on 1 car. :P The SC10 was my 2nd purchase anyway (after a philips head tamiya kit... ugh), when I didn't realise what a pain it would be to use allen keys. After that I specifically looked at metric cars. I understand what you mean though, it's always useful for those non-standard cars, which I only happen to have 1 of :ha::lol::p

The 2wd SC10 is not metric. You'll need a 0.050, a 1/16th, a 5/64th, and 3/32nd hex drivers, and 11/32nd, 1/4th, and 3/16th nut drivers. AE sells them in kits. I haven't had great luck with screws myself, but the stock AE ones are actually pretty darn good.

one thing I have found is that the (I beleive this is the right size, someone correct if wrong) 5/64 drivers usually fit better than a 2mm driver in 2mm screws. I have a 2mm driver (and I tried a few other 2mm drivers to be sure it just wasn't mine that was an issue) that basically gets no use because of this.
Unfortunately, may have to wait for AEs next iteration of the vehicles to get an all metric setup. |
