Your right. The 16t pinion would make it more controllable. Heat is not an issue since its a four pole but at these speeds the wind could make it lose control. I can't even ease into full throttle. The wheels will break loose and want to get sideways. LOL its funny how these rcs draw an audience. I hit a squirrel LOL. It froze like a deer.

So far I've done:
Avid steering rack
GH front Top plate
GH front bulkhead
FN Cuda front brace (extra not replacement)
Rear 0deg hubs
JConcepts Wheel nuts (for the locking not so much for the Al)

My truck felt much more stolid and responsive after doing all of those upgrades. It let me soften up the suspension a good bit where before I had everything really stiff to get the feel I wanted. Which led to better lap times.

im looking at putting a tekin redline 8.5 in my ft sc10 anyone have troubles with wearing out cvds or blowing the ball diff or transmission. putting this much power through the truck.

I've been running a 10.5 and 13.5 and I have problems with my CVD's/CVA's and out drives. Both of those wear the most for me. My diff's seem to last.

I only ever ran a 6.5 in my SC10. I didn't have any premature part failures, or excessive wear. If you take your time, build everything correctly, and stay on top of the maintenance, you will be fine.

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem yet (I'm guessing I'm not the only one) but I noticed my FT carbon top plate wasn't holding the skid plate screws in and they weren't tightening down as tight. Solution? 4-40 helicoils! Now I don't have to worry about them backing out but if they do, I can put some blue loctite on them :cool: I'm guessing I'll need to install these in various areas of the truck as time goes on.

Still have a few left.

Happens all the time from running screws in and out of plastic. I just replace the parts every once in a while.

Anyone have any luck with the pre-release and a certain setup that's right for your track?

Yeah, I saw these were just made available online last night. I'm hoping that some of these work a bit better then the Losi ones. I was able to match the Losi BB springs ok on the rear to my AE gray ones, but none of the Losi front's were as stiff as my AE red springs. If anyone has luck with these, I'm gonna pick up a front set. It's nice that these are actually made to be used on the SC10.

Qustion for the guys running 7.5-8.5 turn motors. How are your weights set up? I just upgraded from a 10.5 to an 8.5 and need a little more rear bite. With the 10.5 I was running 2 and a 1/4 oz behind the rear battery foam with the battery placement in the center of the tray. Just looking for suggestions.

A common setup is 3oz in battery tray, 1/4oz in each triangle, balance weight on rear brace and 1/4-1/2 oz on rx side to offset ESC and motor. With battery forward.

Same as J-bone said. Also, what rear spring and shock mounts are you running? A slightly softer rear spring or laying the shocks down slightly will transfer more weight to the rear under acceleration. Also what wheelbase are you running?
