Help with 17.5 setup

I'm having trouble finding a good gear/boost setup for my Trinity D3 and MMP.

I have the gearing at 28/75 and run 35deg of boost starting at 4000rpm.

At first it was fine and comming off practice (15mins) around 160, then i would add a notch of timing on the motor for heats and mains.

Last time I ran it came off at 200 after the main and put of a pleasant odor.

The esc is always around 85, and I've heard that hot motor and cool esc means to low gearing, but it seems higher than what most run.

Not really sure if I suggest gear up or down or just reduce boost.

Hot motor, cool esc means too high of gearing. You need to gear down if you want a cooler motor temp. Or lower your boost. Trial and error to see what you like really.

Noob question on the FT kit again.....

Are the FT hubs just like the ones on the B4.1 Worlds kit? Or are they the old stock plastic ones wth the same size bearing on each side? Are we changing them out?

I've never seen a picture of what comes on the FT SC10. I have seen the B4 hubs in person though. Thanks!!

Kit comes with plastic ones. Upgrade if you'd like.

trying to figure out what the most common size of motor that people run in 2wd mod classes. I know it may depend on the track. However, wanted to see what people who race typically run. thinking about upgrading my 13.5 motor already to something faster.

Thanks,

Depends on the track/ traction and what you have on the back of your SC10.

Thanks,

I run a 10.5T motor on my local medium size indoor track, and it is just right

I'm dropping down to a 10.5T.

Ohh, you won't regret it. It is just the perfect combination for my track. It has speed for the straight away and handles excellent on the turns and jumps. I was going to go with the 8.5T, but would have then had to turn the power down. However, with the 10.5 I can leave the power at 100%, and if down the road I want just a tad more power, I can simply add a bit of boost to my Mamba Max Pro ESC. I am currently running this Thunder Power motor: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ess-Motor-105T

I know that Thunder Power isn't some huge brand like Tekin or LRP or something, but their motors are truly TOP NOTCH! This motor is incredible power wise, and is the absolute quietest motor at my track (aside from the other guys running Thunder Power's as well :) ). 10 out of 10 :D

That looks like a sweet motor. I have a Novak on it's way. Just want something more controllable than the CC motor I got.
Most guys at my track said the 8.5 is a bit much and to get the 10.5. I can't wait!!!

Thanks,

I would go with an 8.5. It seems to be the best for a Mod Short Course. A 10.5 is the best for a Mod Buggy

Ohh, you'll be good to go, you can't go wrong with a Novak :) Let me know what you think once you get it all soldered up and try it out
