Thanks for the welcome... I appreciate it...

But according to http://www.teamassociated.com/setupsheets/SC10/
all their drivers are using AE springs but who knows maybe there lying about there setups...

First, consider for a second why no Kinwald's setup has been published since he rejoined AE.

Second, those pictures I posted don't lie.

Third, the reason they are using Losi springs is likely because they need a slightly different rate in a length that AE doesn't currently make. Which means they are probably testing parts for some potential update. I've seen Yokomo springs on Losi factory cars, AE springs and Tamiya shocks on Losi sedans when they were doing development work.

Here is the link to Todd Hodge's old thread here (he was TLR development manager back then too), and the photo proof (AE blues with the paint taken off on a wire wheel grinder):

Frankly, it's not that big of a deal. It's a spring - it has a wire of a certain temper and diameter, a certain number of coils, and a certain coil spacing. Easy stuff.

Its hard to argue photo evidence. Your pretty damn good with these pictures and knowing all these threads... LOL... I know its not a big deal, that's what I said earlier...

Thanks. I lived in SoCal for about a decade (and for a couple of years saw all the factory guys at the track a couple times a week), and have been racing way longer than that, have a long memory, and have really, really, really mad skills when it comes to Google image search.

That's right. If you do a search of this thread, sombody has the parts numbers broke down. It's a durability upgrade, just like the aluminum big bearing hub. I never broke one on my truck, but I see far too many people at the track who have outer rear bearing failures or break either the ballcup or the ball stud. My stuff will take a hit.

When Paul Tracy and Dario Franchitti drove indycars for Team Kool Green, the team would often set up mirror image pits, and spectators could walk in between them and look at both cars. At a road race track like Mid Ohio, Dario's stuff always had the lightweight uprights and other smaller (more aero) suspension pieces on it, while PT's car normally had the big substantial stuff that looked like it came off a trophy truck because the engineer knew PT was gonna hit stuff and would likely DNF and break with stuff Dario would make live.

At a street race like Long Beach, both cars would be put together with the big parts because you had to bounce the car off curbs all day and the car needed the help.

You should change your name to YODA... Cause you my friend are a SC10 Jedi Master... LOL...

I decided to go for the more intellectual Yoda... over the Lightsaber wielding Yoda. It shows a piece of ... "I'm gonna help you out, little buddy" but also a nice dose of "don't make me pull out my Lightsaber" without showing direct hostility. Please Enjoy. :)

Save and Size to your liking, Craig. /notoptional

I wish. Yoda knew everything knowable because he was one with the force and could clear his head and "see" it. Plus, Yoda could throw stuff with his mind.

On the other hand, I am a walking encyclopedia of useless knowledge who remembers where he saw BK's truck in the first place.

I am pretty good at painting stuff flat black.

Can anyone tell me where to find a good setup for racing on a tight, technical, carpet track?

Cain 01-03-2012 01:44 PM

honestly here I am going back to the factory team setup and going to give the swaybars a try on the rear for the carpet track I run at.

I'm ordering mine tomorrow. Does it come with swaybars or do I need to order a set with it? How do these handle on the carpet? So far the only short course I have raced is the Losi SCTE.

I'm running 10k on a looser track and it seems to be the sweet spot for me. Notable difference over the 5k that I was running over the end of summer.

Well just got my truck today and it looks awesome!!! Just got the normal rtr and now charging batteries. Is there anything you need to break in carefully or just drive it like you stole it?

no it doesn't come with them.

They handle well on carpet, what I notice the most about the one I have at least how the previous owner had it setup was they can lean, ALOT.
