Is there an average brushless motor temp. increase that will normally be seen when going from an 18t to a 19t pinion ?

Running SC10RS 3300kv motor and ESC.

Running at 160-170 deg. currently after approx. 10 min. of racing.

Also will I see a big difference in vehicle performance when going from a 30c lipo to a 60c+ lipo ?

the higher C rating , if it's a true C rating , you will feel. Think of a battery with more c rating being able to clear a jump easier.

Those motor temps are on the high side of normal, they're not bad if you're geared right, most stay conservative and try to stay under 150.

This has prolly been asked but will the stock front hex's work with the proline conversion hubs? I have the old style hexes that didn't come with set screws and it's annoying how they always come off when you remove the wheels. And if the proline axles don't work with stock hexes will the stock axles work with the proline hubs?

JEFFs SC10 02-23-2012 04:46 PM

ya man

sm_bailey77 02-23-2012 04:55 PM

Is that yes they work with proline axles or do I need the stock axles too? Thanks Jeff.

Chassis slot for wires too small

Had to add a bec to my set up and the chassis slot in too small for all the wires to lay flat underneath the battery. Used a dremmel to make the slot bigger but the wires are still not perfectly flat to the chassis surface. Can the wires handle the weight of the battery on top of them? Or do I keep on dremmelling????

SC10 Heat Issues

Greetings all, first time, long time.

My eyes are starting to bleed trying to figure this out, so I wanted to ask here and see what folks think.

AE SC10 FT Kit
CC Sidewinder with CM36 4600Kv motor (original combo)
Venom 5000 MaH 2s 30C LiPo

Burned up the first motor running 20/87. Bought a replacement (same motor) and IR Thermometer.
~ 5min run Started at 16/87, ran 193F motor, 99esc.
Cooled it off for a hour.
~ 5min run
Dropped it down to 12/87. 202F motor, 99esc.

I'm at a loss here as to what's wrong ...

Running it on the pavement in front of the house with Proline Streetfighter SC's. I normally run on a sand/clay mix or even just in the grass in the yard.

Thanks for any advice / things to check.

I just switched over to the losi springs and my first combo was Losi rr silver springs on the front and Losi rr grey springs in the rear. I run the Maifield setup almost exactly other than .5 rear hubs and half oz under the servo horn. First combo felt too soft in the rear and too much front lift on jumps. Switched to yellow losi rr in the rear and it seemed much better. But still a little more spring than I like up front. Gonna try orange losi rr for the front. I'm kinda curious what other bb combo's everyone is running. My track is med/large size, med bite, outdoor hardpack dirt, ran wet. Its very similar to srs, but a couple more big jumps.

So you aren't crazy.

great :D so, doesnt that throw everyone's rate conversion all out of whack when doing the swap?

I run a lrp 7.5 in mine geared at 81/16. I would give that a try I think they kv rating is close.

the hexes will fit on either axle.

Are you topping it out and running w.o.t for extended periods of time?

Pretty much, at a minimum you're guaranteed it won't work unless you know how to rate springs on your own.

For the most part, yes. I was running down the street wot, tap the brake, u-turn, back again. Did this for ~5min each run.

I should mention that this is my first brushless setup. I've been running a B4FT for many years with a brushed setup. I figured it was time to move into the 21st century.

JEFFs SC10 02-23-2012 07:09 PM

Topping out any motor for a long time like that is gonna make it hot.

The smaller pinion puts more load on. Putting a bigger pinion will help but you will wheelie like crazy which gets a little annoying. You can go with smaller spur if you dont have too many pinion sizes.
