Hey guys- Don't forget to put the body on before you check ride height. It's hard to believe how much it affects how the car sits.

Lots of people check it without the body. The Pro's do, I do and a lot of other people I know do. It's a matter of preference

If you dont shoe goo a body you can check it without the body on BUT if you use a lot of shoe goo it will change the ride hieght by 1-2mm. Pro's dont use shoe goo to make a body last longer.

Neither do I.

I've gotta say, I am pretty impressed with my RS out-of-the-box. We finally got some decent dirt at my local track, so the truck now responds to setup changes.

I'm running the OE rock-hard front tires and AKA soft Gridirons out back, and the truck feels great. I did revise the springs/damping/camber link/etc, but with exception of a ball diff, it's 100% stock. (I also had to shim the rear axles to keep the dog bones from popping out)

The motor has lots of snap- How does its power compare to other motors? ie if I upgrade to a true 13.5, how much more power will it have? For old-school racers, it feels about on-par with a 19T Chameleon.

Hey guys,

Did some fun thrashing this weekend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU-dY42RGmk&sns=em

So, the result was some broken parts, including the rear hub, a broken rear body mount, and a missing rear axle. :) So, anyone have any recommendations on what the strongest parts are to replace them?

Chris

The RS motor is obviously more powerful than any 13.5 that I have driven. They still let them race with us 13.5 guys though at my track.

Raven, I don't think you can build a truck that can last that beating. At least give yourself a chance to land a jump. Set your ramp up to land down a hill or something.

New Truck and Hobbyist

Alright guys so I just bought my first real RC in 15yrs, previous one was a Tamiya Falcon. The new toy and stuff I get with it are as follows

Associated SC10 RTR Ready Lift/RC10.COM
Tower Hobbies NiMH 6-Cell 7.2V 3000mAh Stick Standard x3
Also included chargers

I need advice on what tools I need as well as what tends to break and how to set it up so that it works well right out of the box without buying any other parts. All advice is welcome!

What are you looking to do with this truck race, bash, or both. First I would suggest getting a LIPO battery and not a NiMH. A decent LIPO will have as much runtime as 3 NiMH batts. Check out the Gens Ace batteries on HobbyPartz.com.

Just how good is the Reedy 3300kv?

My SC10, which I bought used, came with the Reedy 3300kv. It's the same motor that comes stock with the SC10RS.

In my quest for knowledge, I've heard everything from "such and such motor is WAY faster than the Reedy" to "the Reedy is as good as it gets."

I feel like I could use some more control exiting corners, so I thought I'd get a sensored motor. However, I don't want to sacrifice speed if the Reedy is, in fact, a very fast motor.

Are there any sensored motors out there that are noticeably faster than the Reedy 3300kv, but still manageable with the 2wd SC10?

I definitely agree, but it sure was fun! :) I just need to know what parts to replace it with that have proven to be the strongest stuff out there.
