Getting ready to put my son on the track...is the box setup for the sc10 brushless pretty good? changes?
Thanks |
$80 for V2 shocks?
Get a whole XXXT CR used (even consider a conversion for a super dialed SC) :sneaky: Want super dialed shocks? See if Tamiya has the right sizes, no contest. That'd be $80 well spent. |
I've been running xxxt shocks for over a year now.. outstanding, I'll never swap them out as long as I run a SC10 and I just rebuilt mine for indoor offroad in Jan and will continue to use it for 2011's outdoor offroad season as well. If it lasts as long as my first SC10 did I may take it into 2012 to save money since we aren't 'suppose' to make it into 2013' ill hold off on upgrades :) LOL

Ran my V2's for the first time during practice Fri and race night yesterday. Didn't leak that I can see and are quite smooth. Cannot see how the Losi shocks would be better than these.
Wild Cherry, what do you mean by gluing the cap on to avoid blowouts? |

Wild Cherry, what do you mean by gluing the cap on to avoid blowouts? No leaks and smooth action. The cap is on the Losi cartridge, it snaps on after the cartridge is rebuilt with new seals. Cap popping off happens when it is damaged by the person rebuilding the cartridge? Never heard of it. |

So the V2s can do what the Losi shocks have always done?

The losi xxxt shocks are full aluminum on the top, you can't have a popped cap.. the losi shocks get filled from the bottom of the shock, for 1/10 setup this is ideal and your shocks builds have good consistent action for much longer than any other shock I've used (hpi, traxxas, ae) at least in the past. I've never used the v2's but I don't need to either.

It screws in, it doesn't snap in.

The losi shock cartridge has a cap that snaps on after the seals are built. It can and sometimes does pop off while running which will cause the seals to move up the shaft and into the main body causing the oil to leak out the bottom. Some peopple will put a small drop of CA glue on the cap to keep it from popping off while running.
the cartridge screws in yes but the cartridge itself has a cap that holds all seals inside, can be removed, new seals installed and the cap snaps on after. If it pops off, it's inside the shock and the seals slide up, oil leaks down. |

New set up
Bones and arms level. 1 ounce of weight on servo and 2.5 in the rear. Red springs in front and green in the back.. Do you think that should jump a little better and maybe not roll over in the corner? Next is some v2 shocks. High bite carpet is the surface. |

I've been doing research on some guys are using 50-60 wt shock oil too.
