thought so. it will actually snap the truck straight any time I pin the throttle. wich means I hit the throttle in the corner, front slides to straight position, and then I traction roll to counter act it.
I might have some 70wt shock oil left? would that work?

Yup, thats slash diff fluid!

2000 or less in the Sc10. heavyier shock oil like 60wt is about the same as 2000 in a straight line and you get more side bite.

Right now I'm running 35 wt.

I've been packing mine with just grease, but I'm about to tear the truck for some major cleaning and maintenance, I have some 60wt and 70wt, going to try that instead of the black grease...

Heavier fluid takes away the turning ability that's contributed by the differentials correct?

offtraxx 12-17-2009 04:51 PM

I had 45wt on hand. will race this sat and report back on changes.

the thicker oil in the diff is suppost to help keep both wheels spinning thru the corner=more corner speed. with no oil in the diff, the inside wheel would diffout, or spin to free and loose momentum

Zerodefect 12-17-2009 05:00 PM

The heavier fluid calms the rear on entry. As long as your smooth on exit you'll be fine.

Less turn in, more turn out.
But its easy to add turn in to the truck.

Anyone running black springs in the rear or cut black springs in the front? With only 30/25 shock oil I have enough pack to drop the truck from waist height and it won't bottom.

I added a swaybar. I'm trying to make a B4 like lite setup so that I'll only need 2 ounces weight added to my Sc10 with a 4000mah Zippy.

Thanks for the good info guys, I'm going to try some 60wt shock oil next time, maybe that's the reason why my SC10 is so erratic in turns, the black grease was making it too "free?" I know after awhile, black grease liquifies and eventually splatters all over the transmission components...

How do you like the swaybars? I've never had to put it on a 2wd, but did it calm things down during cornering???

I've always stuck with the stock kit springs, but was thinking about bumping it up a notch, maybe blue in the front, and silver in the rear...

i run the rear swaybar and it made the rear WAY more stable so i can get on it harder and earlier in the corner!!!

Just now getting serious with my SC10 and don't know much about it. I have one I just got off a friend that has GRAYish shocks and he stated they were Team shocks. I have also seen some SC10s with BLUE body shocks ... anyone know the difference?

Also, what else can I do to make it slide out less in the rear? I'm running Associated Team oil 35 front and 30 rear with 2 hole pistons front and rear with Blue springs out back and Green in front.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

You can do alot of things. I would try to start wiht increasing rear traction. You can add weight, move the battery back, descrese negative camber, change out your tires. Then you could also drive differently, be light on the throttle and brakes in the corner. I'm not sure about changine pistons, swaybars, or springs, I haven't driven my on a track enough, but the things up above are just some basic theory. Hope that helps some.

(If you add weight to the rear end, you will have more rear traction, but the truck will push in the corners, and if it starts to spin, then it will be alot harder to stop it from spinning)

It's been posted a few times now but basically:

Get gold front springs, use #3 pistons, 5 shock limiters inside the shock to decrease droop and 35wt oil. For the rear, use 1 limiter, #1 pistons and try 25wt oil with green or silver springs. Also, you'll want to increase rear toe by picking up some new 1 degree rear hubs - look back a number of pages and find a set here with part numbers, some guys use Racer's Edge, some prefer ST racing I think it's called and others have modified Losi hubs to work, while some guys have gone to using AE's GT2 rear arms and GT2 1.5 degree hubs - lots of options.

Too add, the grey/green shocks are factory team hard anodized. The blue ones are the base RTR level, soft anodized shocks.

The FT ones will perform slightly better new, but much better once there is some time on both types when compared.

For more rear grip try more weight transfer.

rr: Black rear springs with 25wt oil and #1 pistons, inside on tower, inside on arm

ft: Silver or green front springs, #3 or Green Rpm dual stage pistons, only 3 limiters in front shock (more droop, more rear bite under power) 30 wt oil, inside on arm middle on tower.

+1 degree St rear hubs

with soft black rear springs and a heavy, heavy Sc body, you need a sway bar. Never use one in truck or buggy, but alllways with your Sc10.

WOW, thanks for the replies. VEEERY helpful

I was reading a few pages back as well as this page and noticed some of you guys are running a rear sway bar.

Does Associated make a sway bar kit or will it be something I will have pick up that is made for another truck or buggy that will fit on my SC10?

Thanks again!

sway bar for T4

T4 and B4 owners never really buy them, but they are flying off shelves now that sc10 owners are buying them

There is an sc10 sway bar kit. It is the same as the t4 kit. Start with the silver spring, if that works well and your track is hooked up and fast go to the gold spring.
