is anyone looking for an extra set of Exotek 14mm hexes? Here's the link to the model:http://www.exotekracing.com/dex210-d...locking-hex-2/

I have at least one extra set for whomever needs them. Please note the front can be a bit tricky depending on which drive shafts you have. I've heard some people have had to sand theirs down a bit to make them fit in the front due to tolerancing.

Anyone use turnigy saddle packs with this buggy? They seem decent and reasonably priced.

I've been using the Nanotech A Spec from Hobby king for quite some time. I have three pairs of saddle packs from them. Great so far. Good support too.

hobbyking's customer support is a joke.
most of the batteries I bought there are fine, one of the A-spec saddle I bought had reversed polarity and the "support" was torture.

take your chance if you think it's cheap enough, avoid them if there's alternative.

Well said! I bought some packs from them and mistakingly hit the wrong button and tried to cancel the order. To make a long story short I canceled the order 20 seconds after I purchased but too me 3 months and 2 paypal disputes to get my money back. Try SMC they have great customer support.

Interesting….I've purchased three packs from Hobby King so far. I've just purchased a 50 amp power supply as well. One of my three A Spec saddle packs arrived damaged. I emailed support, provided some pictures and some details. They sent me an advanced replacement. Easy peasy. I've used their live chat and email both. They are responsive.
Sorry to hear you had trouble with them.

I have also had great luck with SMC. I have two of their Shorty packs for my 210 and their support is also very good and they have a super fast response time. Either way you won't go wrong.

I checked out smc. Looks like great lipos to me. Thanks for the advice! Very good pricing too.

You can also try the SMC square packs. It's a tight fit but works great!

Square packs are a full 2s lipo correct? I don't understand saddle packs. I dont know what 1s3p or 2s3p means

Where is it tight exactly? Have you compared to saddle packs in terms of performance?

Post pics if you can

Thanks!

I run a reedy 8.5 and a toro ts120 esc, so a very similar set up, and run a 23t pinion. I for sure can go up to 24t, right now it runs 125* on the esc and 135* on the motor.

1s3p, 2s2p etc is how the cells are wired. Typically speaking, saddle packs are 2 1s2p pack that get wired in series. So its 1 cell, 2 parallel. There's 2 cells wired + to + and - to - to double the capacity with the same voltage. Most high capacity stick packs are 2s2p, so theres actually 4 cells in the case, 2 pairs in parallel, then wired in series.

I was using 24t with some ESC timing when I had the 8.5t there. and it's on a relatively small track.
highly recommend 6.5t though, it may sounds weird, but it's making it easier to drive. You don't need to push 110% in the corner to get the straight way speed, where a small bump may get you into trouble easily.
While with a bigger motor, you can go steady in the corner and punch the car out into the straight, safer and still faster.

+1 nicholasxuu

I've also noticed that when I run lower turn motors I don't need to use timing or boost to get horsepower. I'm often turning it down with the current limiter or similar function. This often means my motors and ESC run very very cool. I have tons of horsepower (more than I can use) and I usually run between a 5.0 and 6.5turn motor. My ESC and motor are rarely above 130 even after a long practice run. I'm pretty sure I could take my fan out completely.

You definitely want to detune the esc/motor as much as possible for maximum smoothness. I have the esc set very low and have tons of horsepower at the track I've ran it, but this year I'll be running at the local outdoor track with a 130' strait so I may need a faster motor. I might need to give the new toro ares pro motor a try this summer.
