Hi guys. I'm looking to find the right timing and gearing for my TSR the one 17.5. I will be using it for my touring car on a 90x45 indoor carpet track. Thanks in advance

We typically start around 46* and a mid 4.2 FDR

If the track is technical go to a mid 4.3 FDR and 48 to 50*

With a good fan we saw temps from 130 to 150*F depending on traction and driving style over the weekend.

No problem!

Spot check temps after 2 minutes

If the car lunges way at the end of the straight and feels soft off the turn drop a gear.

If it lacks top end go up 1

Does this also apply to the 21.5 motor or does this motor need different gearing compared to the 17.5?

For an outdoor track that's about 180 x 80 ft what would be the recommended gearing to start with for for the 21.5 motor in a touring car?

For 21.5's on larger outdoor tracks try starting at 46* on a motolyser and a 3.4 to 3.5 FDR.

I have feedback from some guys who have gone to a 3.1 to 3.3 FDR at 48*, but start off safe

Large outdoor track 3.39fdr at 51degrees it's a rocket with a r1 fan comes off the track about 138degrees that's in the Florida heat. Timing at 51 on a motolyzer

The TSR may generate a bit more heat at 51 then the R1.

If traction is down some you may get away with it

It's a TSR motor with an R1 fan blowing on it traction was never down

Is it best to leave timing where it is set at for 2wd buggy? Run on both medium sized and small track and the small track I drop 2 teeth in pinion. I ask as I've had other brand motors whose sensor board deviations jump when adjusting the timing board. Currently my motor is set at 44 degrees. Is there an optimum timing/or amp draw for 2wd applications or best served just leaving timing as is? Thx all
