Thumbs up A big thumbs up!!!

I was at the track (SIR- Seattle Indoor Raceway) today so here's a brief report on my plastic TA05....
SiR BTW is a high-bite asphalt track...
Using the same set-up on the car that one of our locals (a former TCS Champion & present TCS past chump) found at TCS Natl's this year, the car is freakin' money. I didn't notice the bumpsteer in the car before so I had to remedy that but a slight tweak that I needed was to go from 2-degree of camber in the front with a 1mm spacer under the front inner camber link to 1-degree of camber with no spacer. Initial turn in was phenominal. And on this particular layout- major turn in is necessary. I know one-ways are sometimes faster but I love the thrashin' I can give the car witha spool in it, so that's what I run with primarily even with a Silver can
I started off with a Checkpoint 19t geared around 6.8FDR, but it couldn't touch my Komodo geared at around a 7.7FDR. I have to play around with that Checkpoint some more The Checkpoint was coming off the track @ about 170degrees but the Komodo... let's just say after 3 packs thrown at it with 8-10min runs, a rest period of 30min in-between & no cuttin', the brush shunts were discoloured
Needless to say, the car 'feels' better to me than the lighter graphite stuff but more importantly- I left the track in high spirits ...

Today I disassembled the chassis, cleaned it up, then reassembled it. To get it race ready, I still need:
  • complete front diff
  • front universals
  • front and rear belts

I downloaded and printed out the TA05 instruction manual from the Tamiya website, but the part numbers are not listed. It would be nice if the manufacturers listed the part numbers next to the part in the instruction manual.

I need help getting all of the parts required for the diff. The instruction manual doesn't list universals at all. I've seen the blue belts listed online, but I'd prefer to get the standard black belts.

If anyone knows of a complete parts list that would be nice to have.

Last question... are all of the TA05 parts specific to the TA05, or does it share parts with other Tamiya kits?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I suggest to get the aramid belts right away and also the aluminum diff halves. They are so smooth when they are built! Chack Tamiya's website for parts.

BTW, If you have the entire manual like it was original, the parts pictures at the end always have the stock part # by them.

ALSO Thanks to all for the help to my earlier ?'s!!!
Mike

moshmike: Thanks for the suggestions. I really feel stupid!!! You're right, the manual that I downloaded does in fact have a parts listing in the back.

I just went back from the lw suspension kit to the stock setup. I kep the CVD's though cus there the only ones i have, i dont got the stock ones. And when i tried putting the CVD's into the hub, the whole from the stub axle pin that goes in the Wheel hex doesnt come out all the way. Do i have to go back to the stock dogbones as well?!?!

Thanks,

Juan

OUCH!!!

Using the Horizon Hobby website, I was able to place in my shopping cart all of the parts you listed except the bearings, and cap screw and the total is $99.45 before shipping!

I think that at this point it makes more sense for me to buy a complete kit!

It may be that you need the 46mm axles for going back to the original suspension, as the LW one needs the 48mm ones(& I don't know if they'd work with the original suspension, likely banging into the outdrives too much), but you won't have to buy complete Universals, just some 46mm stub axles(they can be bought seperately)....

Grizz--Are you bringing the TA-05 to Memphis this year? I picked up one just for the TCS race here. Later man!
