The FDR that i use for 17.5 non-timing in carpet is usually 3.6-4.0 and for 21.5 i heard the Viper team using the same FDR numbers. Motor timing on the end bell is max. Remember to always check the temperature after 3 minutes to make sure its safe. If the temps are low then you can gear one tooth until it reaches optimal levels (150-175*)
Hope this helps

When you say Max timing on the end bell you mean 45* correct? I was looking at another guys setup on the weekend and he had the end bell timing cranked to 60*(?) his car was very fast and temped at 155* with a fan.

Just bought myself a new Schumi Cat SX3 4WD Buggy and need a good ESC/motor combo to match up to it. I was going to go with a VTX10R/8.5 combo but after reading through many pages here it seems moslty 2WD guys are using this system. I do not want to have any heat issues. Tekins are King where I live and through the winter months we run on indoor carpet with jumps so I may pick up a 5.5 turn motor if needed later on. Anything I should know before I purchase the system?

Well guys my 10r is Money I messed with some drag brake and i love it last night i tq'ed and won our mod buggy main. Had a few people drive my car after we were done everyone loved the speedo they just couldn't handle all the motor i had. lol
I also did my personal best lap time with a horrible driving car 14.2!! With the Track record held at a 13.7 by a B44.1 Driven by a AE sponsored driver so i felt accomplished.
Thank You Viper

Look back through the thread (sorry list the exact page), Losi Project Manager Ryan Dunford posted his esc set up, he does not use a fan and has no issues using the VTX10r and XL motors.

I changed to the larger rotor (13.8) in mod buggy 7.5 motor this past weekend. WOW it really helped with temp's and slowing the car down without using a lot of drag brake! I'm using Paul Sinclair set-up for the speedo, except for some personal preferences. Raced at the RC Factory in Ohio this past weekend. I qualified 3rd in the A with a lot of very good competition. Jason Engle (Butters) tq'd with Chris Doseck 2nd. The competition was incredible for this race. Racers that attended were: Curt Schlister, Eric Clark, Paul Sinclair, Dustin Richards, Luke Richards, Curt May, Dax Madden, Dan Griffin, Brandon Marsh, JP Richards just to name a few. If you need a little more braking, without changing speedo settings, try the larger rotor. Viper products and service are awesome.
