Ya guys sorry to report I think Associated being bought out by Thunder Tiger was a bad move. I had lots wrong with mine also. Team Associated is going to take a big drop in sales. Im upset because I feel like I just bought the name. The good news is if you call them they will sent you the parts you need just gonna take longer to put together. However in the end I ended spending $150 bucks more for the same kit as my friends did with their Hotbodies De8.
From experience: Out drive was to small in diameter for the dog bones to fit in. Spend gas/time/money on Drill bit trying to bore the hole bigger to fit. Never did get it to fit.

Anybody here bashing or doing speed runs? Running 4s with 46t spur/20t pinion I'm only geting about 40mph. On 6s I'm hitting 53mph. This is with a 2200kv motor. Does this sound right? According to the speed calculator I should be hitting 57mph on 4s.
I'm only close to that on 6s. Do you think 500k fluid in the center diff would make a difference?

4S speed sounds about right based on my calculations (41.6mph). I have issues with the online speed calculator I see here. Your 6S speed does seem quiet a bit off though (62.4mph). I suspect you are getting too much voltage drop at such high currents (or have a bad cell). 6S is going to make that 2200 want to pull some serious amperage.

I just finished my BC8Be yesterday but have a question regarding the top shock mount. On the front shocks, I have the indented sid etowards the shock tower, but on the rear, if the indented side is toward the shock tower the shock cap hits the tower. If the rear shock is turned 180* and mounted with the indent out (3M nylock nut fits inside) its near impossible to tighten the nylock nut inside of the indent. How have you set up your rear shock?
Another question, are those turnigy 4500mAh 4S 30C packs sufficient enough for my setup with MMM 2200kV 16T pinion? Anyone using them and whats your thoughts?

What kind of batteries are you using? how many C? like someone said before, your voltage drop is pretty big. if you're using low quality batteries your voltage under load will drop significantly.
When I do the calculations, it comes out to exactly what you're testing:

Thanks for the input guys. Ok, well I guess I was using the wrong diff ratio. I picked the 8th scale buggy selection and it gave me a gear ratio of 3.3076923076923075 instead of 4.3.
If the diff ratio is 4.3 then those calculations are on point. I dont think I'm hitting 60mph because my foams are just not gripping. I'm running 2 35c Hyperion VX 3s 5500mah so the packs are more than enough. Maybe I'm better off with the 2650kv for the type of stuff I like to do. The buggy is already leaning to the left with all the weight from my 6s setup.

How does your buggy run/handle with the 6s? Does it get overly hot or does it tear up tires? Is it controllable and fun to do speed runs on 6s?

First you guys are nuts. Whats the point of getting your racing buggy to hit 60mph? Oh well speed is fun ill admit.

The mah should still be the same 5400's ex. This is the amount of run time you will get.
Your batt will also say 35c-50c this is the punch or when you first pull the throttle.
As far as speed yes batts have something to do with it but mostly from your ESC and or Motor's and Gearing.
With my 2250kv motor I run 15/46
Keep in mind my motor is way to big for racing most are running 1700kv's
To reach top speed. " im guessing here" try something like 30/46 or even change your spur gear remember smaller spur gear larger pinion.

I'm running 6s batteries in my rc8Be for a different reason than breaking the land speed record. I slapped a 1400kv t8 in there and use 2200mah batteries for a ten minute or below heat, and use a 3000mah battery if I need to make 15 minutes. These batteries weigh considerably less than a comparable 4s setup. The lower kv motor with the higher voltage batteries gives the smoothest power delivery I've ever felt, not to mention the efficiency the system runs at which leaves it much cooler than many of the 4s arrangements I have run. My latest project has been to put this car on a diet. I've shed weight in about every way I can think of, lightened pins and turnbuckles; and I'm about to test out the SNR carbon fiber chassis. I've knocked in the neighborhood of a pound off my car and I can't wait to see what it does on the track.
