Honestly I enjoyed the comparison. I had a vspec and went to a n21r. It was so much easier for me to drive. I only wish for a little more bottom but not lightswitch torque like the vspec. I was running a OS 2050, I now plan on getting a 053 or 9901 pipe. I am curious to here anyones thought on a 086 pipe on a small to mid track with a n21r.

I butted in and offered a little tip on tuning the FMS in a Truggy.... everyone then started almost getting defensive from my posts so I attempted to clarify myself as to not be misinterpreted, nothing more, nothing less..... Honestly I regret even bothering now.....I tried to be as peaceful and respectful as possible, but some people are not interested in hearing another view if it doesn't quite match their own.. Sorry guys the bottom end on the FMS doesn't impress me much, and I am not the only one who will say that... So i see no harm in suggesting running a little higher compression to help the bottom end out a little, which is what seems to have offended so many.....talk about accidentally stirring up a angry bee's nest ! definitely not my intention at all...but some will read into things what they want to read into it !

Monty dude ! once again I apologize for butting in, I was worried crap like this would happen, and unfortunately even against my greatest efforts it has... cheers dude ! no harm intended at all !

For the 3 port N.21R I don't see anything wrong with the 086 pipe. That motor has great torque and the top end pipe will let it get more rpm's too.

I do like the 9853ss pipe on it better though with the short round header on smaller tracks, and even on bigger tracks you could just go up one tooth on the clutch bell and be golden...

I just took it as, you were making claim, That the b5 was such a powerhouse.Compared to the nova. Not trying to insult you because i wasnt.Every motor made cant make everybody happy. Because im one of them And yes my typing sucks, and maybe the way i worded it also. Im sorry if you took it that way. Maybe i did also. But there is so much confusion on some of these sites!!For engine tuning!! I think that it should be left for monty to answer, as alot of these engines are tuned from him. Sorry if i started anything ,But thats just the way i feel.

Well lets dissect the conversation a little here my friend..

first I mentioned that to help the FMS on the bottom I suggest running less shims not more...

people replied in shock that I would want more bottom end

I responded that its all relative to what your used to running...

I was asked what I run that would make me feel a FMS is soft on the bottom

I reply a mod B5 as a example..

I was then asked how the B5 and FMS compare...since my B5 is modified I must give the same benefit to the FMS so I compare the mod B5 and mod FMS...one is a torque monster, the other is a top end screamer, its that simple !

I hope this explains chronology of this thread and why I mentioned the things I mentioned...

Got a question. Ran my FMS again today with the 8mm venturi. I started it up with a slightly richened needle from last run. The engine would not clear out and would backfire at wot. I leaned high speed about two hours and engine started running great. After about half tank of fuel I richened the low speed needle about one hour and did not change the high speed needle. My engine again started sounding loaded up and backfiring. I closed the low speed needle back and again engine started running good. Would this be caused by a bad glow plug? Also, is there a rule of thumb on which glow plug to use? I'm in Alabama where the temps are 90-100 and the humidity is always 50% or more. Maybe suggestions going from day time to evening. I use 25% nitro w/ .7mm shimming. Have been using 97t or 77t odonnell plug. Thanks

Even though this is the H.E.S. thread I'm sure Monty doesn't mind different points of view intelligently put. Maximo has some very good points and I'm always game for learning new things. That's what it's all about right.

i will leave you and this discussion alone.. but if you want to talk about chronology you made the assumption.. or mis interpret what i said for asking for more bottom end... thats where this thing all started... with the other guys getting on here and stating what they stated... cause no one asked on how to gain more bottom end....

simply put... you mis read or mis interpret thats what caused all off this lets no forget that...my friend
