Yeah, I was wondering about those too.

Does Mugen say anywhere what they are supposed to do better than the other belts or if the last longer?

I am running the rubber belts. I've noticed that they stretch more, wear is about the same, and other than that, I've got 10 races on the side belt and it now needs to be replaced.

just finished building my MTX4 and the side pulley belt seems pretty loose, to have a reasonable amount of tension it has only 10mm gap between the two belts at the belt tensioner. Does this seem right?? I am using the 24 tooth pulley

yes, it does run loose. Take the cam for the belt tensioner and flip it over so the pin is on the top. that will give you a little bit more tension. I run mine like this.

"05-sept-26 13:19:12"

also is there anywhere i can get a full range of mtx4 hop ups?? i like the mono stuff and visited a site ChookGB posted here previously but i find their prices a bit steep. also any brands making stuff out of 7075 alloy? not 6061.

What kind of engine does this kit require, in terms of shafts. Is it a threaded shaft or pilot shaft?
Thanks.

it is the SG shaft. the one that does not require a end attached to it. ie: NOT the shaft with a thread front tip to case

For the tower, you can contact gonad on this forum for his 4mm CF tower, it vitally has no flex and it has 1.5mm recess for the mounting so you dont need extra shims to mount the shocks. Double stock shock tower may seem to work, but actually they cant really hold the stress together since they are not in one-piece.

Skyline carries full range of upgrade from mono: http://www.skylinercracing.com/store/c_31.htm and you get free shipping with a $50+ order. Not sure if they use 7075 alloy but from most people experience so far the quality is very good. You can also find bunch of upgrades from different brands for the MTX4 on ebay. Hope this helps and good luck.

I noticed the same thing after the first race I ran. The carbon is from componet grade fiber. As for other hop-ups. I took the time to do a lot of them to mine (built my own) and bought some. The only thing I would sugest is the light-wieht 2 speed shaft. I had my car so light from hop-ups that I had to put 57cents in the car to get weight after removing the titanium screws and hinge pins. And with a worn set of tires, I was still at 1726grams.

VenomWorldOrder - thanks, that's what I was looking for. Is the LRP .12 engine a good choice? It's $189 at Tower after their code discount.
