well .. alternatively, u can have the sleeve resized (by someone like Osrocket) to extend the life of the engine.
so you only have to pay for resizing cost + new conrod to give the engine a new lease of life.

that's what i've done with my .21 OS engine. cheaper option

I agree but u have to make sure that you dont pinch it to much, its a good way to break a con rod. But yea its an even cheeper way to get new life out of it. What it all comes down to is that when these motors finally do wear out they will be cheap and easy to get up and running again.

Hi there!

I´m just wondering why there are different materials for engine head shims.
My O.S. came with a 0,1mm copper shim and a 0,2mm brass shim.
My Nova got an aluminium one.
Why different materials?
I assume the copper shim is meant to go directly on top of the sleeve because copper seals very well. But why aluminium and brass?

Many thanks in advance!

my guess would be that its so you call tell what thickness the shims are wuthout having to get out a set of calipers. Just a guess though

Historically, this is exactly why they do it. Different companies might use different materials to represent different sizes. In general, always use one brand of head shims, and you won't have this issue.

Any of you guys with the .12tz notice any wear to the backplate and corresponding side of the conrod? I know that has been a problem with the .18tz's

I had the 5port for about 2 months and it just started to bust my glow plug left and right. I went thru 4 plugs in 20 minutes. When I opened up the engine, I noticed that the piston had a hug crack and a small chunk missing, probably disintegrated. There were small metal shavings inside the engine that was killing my plug. I returned it to OS. They said it was not a manufacturing defect but they replaced it with a new engine anyway. I was really impressed with their customer service. The turn around time was only 2 weeks.

You can download the instruction set in OS site
http://www.os-engines.co.jp/tz/engli...12tz(p)_me.pdf

For HSN close all the needle and open 1 turn 3/4 for low speed setting just flush the screw with the ball link body
