Engine runs great, broke in as per montys method with help from chuck janke, engine is hard to start, always preheat to 180 - 200, almost a gallon on it, thing runs incredible once fired, but it's hard to get started after its cooled awhile and pre heated, never a flame out, changed plugs a few times.

Check tank pressure by filling tank half way with fuel , unhook fuel line from carb ,blow through pressure line
Should be fairly ez to get fuel to come out without blowing too hard
All that's good.....get back to me

Even after a certain manufacturers product had let me down at silver state this year i still had an awesome time !!
Hanging with racers i dont get to see often enough and racing my rc cars on a badass track ...priceless
Btw , the manufacturer product that failed ......they have compensated me well for ruining every amain run and 1 qualifier
I am going to give the manufacturer one more shot as they are such great people i am going to put my trust in the people of the company. There could be great things to come from this manufacturer

Hey there,
Can anyone point me in the direction of an "engine maintenance bible"? Everyone at my track does it differently, including doing nothing and this seems to be the only forum where everyone generally agrees!
Some key questions I have are;
How often should I pull down my engine to clean/inspect it?
What should I be looking for when I do e.g what should/shouldn't my piston look like, do I need to be able to read my glow plug?
What should I use to clean the internals and how clean does it need to be.
How often should I replace the bearings, conrod, piston, sleeve.
What don't I know that I should consider?
Cheers.

BUT......... Those that have all the best knowledge and necessary experience for 'Servicing' RC engines, also run very successful businesses in this specialised field.
Not too sure about their willingness to give away all that for nothing in an Internet forum.

We may get lucky, who knows?
Usually though, regularly replacing your 'oiled' air filters, cleaning your fuel filters, use of 'After-Run Oil', regularly checking your glow plug and using fresh fuel, will usually keep your well tuned engine in good running order, long before you will need the experts to 'Tear-Down' your engine for a thorough 'Overhauling/Servicing' or refurbishment.

No way guys
Its like this ,if you feel comfy working on your own engine without f'ing it up ......gitrdun
There are some delicate parts in there though
Honestly ....i run byrons ...i never run my engine out of fuel/oil ....i leave my cars pointed nose down after a race so rear bearing doesnt get messed up .... be gentle on it when refiring
I replace rods every 4.5 gallons ... bearings as necessary ... no real measure of fuel imo ... glow plugs yes you need to leafn how to read for your tune ...just because it glows doesnt mean its good ...make sure coils arent pushed/pulled.. make sure filaments not pitted or dull ,if it is replace it ...its not a contest to see who can make a glow plug last the longest ...imo if you tell me "this glow plug lasted 2 gallons" youre an idiot , replace at most every half gallon .
I hope this helps

Thanks Houston, kinda confirms what some of the guys at my track have said and what I have pick up going through the forums.
Cheers.
