I would like to hear from people using SP 17.5 V3 motors. The last two weeks I've run blinky and I believe I'm a little out to lunch. Blinky 17.5 is all new to me so I could be in the ballpark and just not know it. Before I got the timing boards I was running 37/69 and the motor and esc were barely above ambient temperature. After doing some testing on the boards I am running 40* in the can and 33/72 gearing with it coming off the track at around 140* after a seven minute main. The issue is that it only got marginally faster? Is this somewhat normal? I was expecting a larger gain or is my gearing off?

I am running it with the Revention R in stock0 and every performance setting maxed out.

what is it that you motor needs, more top end, more torque, etc?
Different motor and class, but in VTA I am using the speed passion 25.5 motors and here you really need torque. Initially I tried sticking with the black timing board and going to bigger pinions, I had torque, but at some point the motor seemed to have issue pulling the gearing and was slower out of the hole.
After trying a few things, I went with more timing, and A LOT lower gearing. This really woke up my vehicle. But, I think you hit a sweet spot as well where you can more timing than you really need for the conditions you are running on, even if the temps are fine.
One thing you can try, change your software to the mildest mod setting, then, adjust timing on the actual ESC that will simulate timing on the can. You can then more easily play with timing there without having to remove your sensor boards, etc. for each bigger change. When you find the sweet spot, put in the right timing board, and put it back to your stock profile that is legal.
You will do this ONLY IN PRACTICE. When racing, be legal.

Last week was my second straight at the track and I gained .4 seconds on my fastest lap but wasn't as consistent. As far as what I want I am not sure because of how new I am with blinky. I also don't have a laptop so the firmware I have is it. In fact it was another competitor that loaded it for me. I also have no time to practice with the fact I work evenings. When I get to the track I try a few things and then have to work on laps so I can get the most out of my day. I raced against mod buggies last week and obviously they can pull me down the straight but after bumping from the B I was up to fifth at one point and stayed there for a little bit. People started hitting each other and I profited from that for a short time. I don't want to burn up my motor because money is tight. As far as gearing options I have a 69 and 72 tooth spur gears. Pinions I have 30-34 and a 37. Stock isn't big around here so I have what was available at the track.

Thanks for the help. Like I said, with work I just never have the chance for a practice day to try stuff. Maybe if I got more than six days of vacation a year I'd be more willing to burn a day for practice.

Reventon Pro 1.1 problems...
1. Im having a problem setting my EPA. I turn it on and keep hold of the setup button like it says and nothing happens at all just sits there. The car works but as you can imagine i have to push the the throttle about 50% to get it to move at all because the EPA hasnt been set.
2. I cant hold the power button to turn it off, again does nothing and i have to unplug the battery to get it to turn off.
3. Im trying to update the firmware to Mod2 for 2wd buggy, when i try to do so i get this message: 'reventon r can only update r firmware' Same result if i try to update to any other firmware on the list...
Things ive tried:
Throttle reversed
sensor wire out
different receiver
I also tried updating it to the reventon r mod2 as this seems to be what it wants... and it uploaded fine, only thing is i can only select reventon r firmware now, no option for reventon p...
Any ideas?

OK I have been running lrp sxx stock spec escs with good luck but want to try something else. I have been looking on eBay and found the revention v3 combo , priced very well. Being stock class is most popular and i do very little mod racing, any reasons for jumping up to the 1.1? Thanks
