I've been happy with the reventon s so far but the included 9.5t motor (black can) seems a bit soft even when compared to the grey can 10.5 that was included with a rev pro 1.1. The esc stays relatively cool 120 or so with the fan. I run full motor timing and level 8 boost with the programming card.
I was wondering if anyone has replaced the motor included with rev s combos and if so, what did you get? I feel the esc could handle an 8.5t motor with the way the temps look.

This combo is in a b5m I am currently geared 23/84 per the kit manual with 4300 shorty lipos. I feel like if I gear it up anymore, it will feel a bit doggy unless I added some lightweight drivetrain mods. I already have an aluminum top shaft and good trans bearings. I do happen to have a 7.5t motor laying around. Is there any risks running a 7.5t motor thru this esc?

Been a long time user of Speed Passion but they seem to have fallen on hard times with their Customer Support. I have been looking at Hobbywing and they seem to have it together from what I can see. The setups in programming card and ESC seem to be identical. Also seem that they are built in same factory in China. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to Load their software onto a SP program box? upload it into an SP esc? They basically look IDENTICAL from the spec sheets. One other thing Hobbywings web site seems to get updated more then once a year. also updated software and much better at handling customer concerns.
Thanks for any reply

In North America, Canada, South America the Speed Power website is the main distributor. It's live with stock levels and any promotions.

As for the HW issue...I've heard in the past some users have tried this, but I thought it was with the GT line. It may or may not work, but for sure would void any warranty.

I have a Reventon R and 10.5MMM combo coming. I'm very hopeful that the R will be enough esc at 70a for my small indoor local track in a 22-4.
I had planned on hobbywing but their Black Friday deal brought the combo down to $80 and that was too good to pass up. Anyone know if I'll need to add a capacitor?

The upgraded internals are better suited for handling the heat generated by braking. The 1.1 was mostly the results of testing by the Pro Modified Touring car drivers who arguably push the ESCs to the highest limits.
The R will work fine with a 10.5 MMM. It's rated to run as low as a 7.5. Just make sure you update all the software when you get it.

What sort of ESC/Motor combo would you guys recommend for 4WD Buggy used for bashing (no racing)? It's a hopped up Tamiya DB-01 running metal-outdrive ball diffs and a slipper. I do have the gear-diff options as back-up in case the ball diffs become too much trouble.
I'm thinking the R should be sufficient (though I would rather not run an ESC fan for clearance), but not sure on what motor to get. A better question might be: What motor can run in this car and still avoid using the fan on the Reventon R?

Had a weird issue on the weekend with my Reventon R. About 5 minutes into a 7 minute final I was leading by nearly a lap when it cut out when like it was hitting LVC. I was pretty annoyed thinking I'd put the wrong battery in because I had done 2 heats with no problems before hand. When I got home and went to put the batteries on storage, they all showed up around the 3.75v per cell range. Any idea what could have happened?
