Well well well, Monty we have a problem..... I only got 2nd not 1st
Engine ran great, my pit guy sucked in my main, well actually he was pretty good, but I should have given him the fuel gun, because he squeezed the crap out of that fuel bottle when he was filling it up. Thank god I didn't have my new Buku shoes and clutch on! When I finished the main I took my car top off to clean it up and OMFG there was fuel everywhere! you would have swore there was one heck of a fuel leak. He kept pitting me at 6 minutes said there wasn't much fuel left so I am going to do some investigating to make sure there isn't a fuel leak. I did away with the after market filter and put new fuel line on before my main, tired of it tapping and marring up my 2096.
The engine ran great, it died one time in qualifying but I think the turn marshal had something to do with that since he tossed it on the top of a jump in the middle of my chassis. But it had consistent power all day long and was fun to drive. Ohh Monty I will send you a PM later tonight about a PM someone sent me, just want to keep you in the loop. Thanks again Monty, great engine and my wife is sold, no more engines anywhere but from you from now on, so if you ever quit selling you need to recommend for me a new supplier

No worries, my local track started getting it in. I don't like to switch fuels on a engine after break in anway. I'll just stick to the 30/9 i have been running since break in ended. Something to be said for a engine that has been run hard for 5 gallons and still has a ton of compression.

Looks good

Have you tested it? Run it wide open? I'd be scared it'll flatten out at 40,000 rpm, or a rock rips it and then bye bye carb, air filter boot, whatever. The buku ones are the sh!t, and they actually seal the front of your engine.
Worth every penny.

ive ran it as hard as it will hasnt moved and it dont spin at all and seems to seal as you say just like the buku i packed it with grease and after 1/2 a day of playing it was still full of grease and no dirt in front bearing so im happy with it. Im not trying to sell them i just cant see paying for something i can make. I also have made some out of lexan but they were clear and didnt show up well in the pics... The brass one isnt strong enough to hurt anything as its super thin. i can and will make 27 of them for $2.79 as i need them. once again to each his own.

Hmm, so do you just punch a hole , cut it out, and shape it around the case?

The real test is install 1 on a bearing that you know leaks, and spray brake cleaner at it.

Monty, I have some exceed after run oil is it safe to put in the engine? I am only going to use the lightning when I am showing people it or when racing and actually getting my setups for the race. I have two newer engines and two older ones to use when I just go to the track and practice, so it might sit for a month before I get it out again, if the after run isn't good what would you recommend doing to keep it fresh?

i made a mold and use a arbor press. for the center hole i use a guide to center it then drill a small hole and then a tapered grinding stone and open up the hole till it just fits over the crankshaft. seems to be working just fine. i also use a 7x9mm shim after cover and before collet and its worked through 5-6 tanks without issue so far. that pic was of my first one ive got better tools to press it out now and now they look even better but still need to run it some more to know if it is just keeping out dirt and sealing or just the dirt. the engine i put it on had a new front bearing so it hadnt ran yet without the cap. but i took it out and popped the seal off it and it was still like new inside so i know it keeps dirt out. now to find out if it seals or not. either way if i can keep the dirt out id be very happy as apparently these engines have been sucking air through the front bearing for a long time. but if im keeping out the dirt i have to believe im also sealing it at least to some extent. time will tell
