Are those updated diffs now in the newest ebuggy kits?
Thankyou. Yes it was a brand new kit from amain. And the serpent tech I emailed said they have not even updated the manual yet. The new diffs have the shims built in and don't require any shims . I think it's all the 2.0 stuff but I'm not sure. I'm new to serpent.

That make a lot of sense. A friend recently built a fresh 811e and had a nightmare with the diffs. He was trying to shim the diffs by the manual and couldn't get then to turn anywhere close to free. Old School serpent guys love to tell you they are supposed to be that way and they will break in. BS bound up is bound up and not right . I had him remove all the shims ans add one on each cup side to open the gap. Car works fine now.

Serpent REALLY needs to add an addendum to the manual ASAP about this and also include the stupid thick diff oil you need to make the new micro gears work properly, the kit fluids ain't gonna cut it.

Yeah but don't you think the single battery setup is an old school design why didn't you just get the 2.0 kit now that the alloy tower is available I'm gonna go that route I've always thought that the 811 be and dex408 dominate the track because of there superior chassis design as a manner if fact I wouldn't trade mine for kyosho tiki3 setup or any other single battery setup on the market bit then again it's what you race better with and everyone has they're own style some people do better with a setup that I wouldn't know where to begin with

Don't waste your money on ceramics not worth it trust me. You can buy high quality steel bearing from advantage racing product they have 15 percent off now anything over 25 has free shipping. If you want anyways they also have ceramics bearing kits on sale for the serpent.

I have a complete ceramic bearing kit if you want to buy. I I bought three sets awhile ago this one i never used cause I prefer steel.

It's a tight fit for a good reason. Just curious are you taking out your motor alot for " particular reason. Mine never come out only for regular bearing the checks maybe every three months pending on how much it gets used.

Anyone? I notice in the pics on the serpent site that the rear shocks are in front of the tower on the e buggy and behind the tower on the nitro... have they moved them on the e buggy yet?

No they haven't. Doubt they will anytime soon either. You have to buy the 2.0 rear end upgrade.

I dont take the motor out often. I probably should check the bearings though. I know it should be tight but I had to apply a lot of force to move it. More than I have for any other motor mount. it is so tight I cant really set the gear mesh if I change pinions. Anybody know where to dremel? What oils are people running with the new diff gears?

Guess I'm "old school serpent". Both my Nitro buggy and ebuggy diff crown gear/pinion have always lasted longer with starting out with a tight fit. It definately loosenes up quickly.

You dont have to dremel...Use a right angle Allen wrench to tighten the outer motor plate bolt after you have slide the motor in and adjusted your mesh. I just built a new kit and emailed serpent. The tech said people are running 15, 15, 10. I am running that , feels good. Great buggy!!!

What your missing is Serpent has adjusted the diff cup and ring gear dimensions. They no longer require the shims. They just havent bothered to updat the manual LOL
