Hmm...i didnt pay too much attention to the shaft size last time i saw them but someone else said that they were looking at Hartson's car a couple weeks back and the shafts were larger.

I haven't seen them in a while so I wouldn't know if they made any changes or not.

If you have no slop it gets super twitchy and hard to drive. So I've been told by a few....
I was told the AE Factory drives b4.1wc cars are full of slop and that's how they like them. Not just the steering but the whole car.

I know one time my buddy wanted to freshen up his buggy so he put on all new plastic on the car and it drove like crap. When he put back on the old slop parts it was dialed again. The setup was never changed just the parts. So I agree some slop is a good thing.

Racing 3 times a week for a couple years I had to build a new car every couple months and it took a couple weeks to get it right. So that was the practice car that got put into the mix as the oldest one just got worn out. Good old gold tubs....

I read about the last 25 pages, with installing any of the BB shocks, do you have to change the top shock mount, or do the stock ones work with the bigger shock?

my old car....

you add a 1mm shim to space out the shock bushing and then you file away the shock tower just a bit to allow room for the collar.

Not sure if having a steering locked down with the Avid is a good thing in a buggy.

I would think a little slop is good in a buggy.

What do you guys think?

Do you preffer the Avid rack or the stock rack?

I may buy one just to test it out.
Hideeho
Some slop in it is good, but there is a limit. With the stock steering blocks I could see the front wheels bouncing left & right as I went around corners. It was so bad it made it feel like a push. With the avid blocks there is a much more planted feel to the steering. Kind of hard to describe, but with stock block (even glued, which is better) I would put the wheel on the transmitter somewhere between here & there & wiggle it a little to try & compensate as I went around the corner. With the avid blocks (& a good servo!) you just turn the wheel to where it needs to be & it sits there all the way through the corner.

Can someone help with a question about front hex conversions.

I have two B4.1's I did the Front hex conversion with AVID/SC10 knuckle. Now The b4 with the front hex conversion doesn't have as tight of turning radius as my plain stock b4.1. Its at least 3mm difference just looking at the wheels cranked to the side. Is this normal, I can't imagine people would lose steering angle with this mod. thanks

Something else is wrong...by going to the hex conversion you should not lose any amount of steering travel..are your caster blocks back on the correct sides?
