We just got our first prototype spool which fits perfect on a HB Cyclone!
The main advantage to other spools is the possibility to use tamiya 42mm steel dogbones OR the original HB aluminium...

we're using special "spin grease" for our spool - so we can use the blades at least 10-15 runs. we know the corally blades we use are not the cheapest.. but they fit perfect!

@TryHard: it's really important to grase a spool - otherwise they won't last long.

we had good results with the 53439 Tamiya Anti Wear Grease in our spool, the blades will last quite long.

of course it depends a lot on the aluminium alloy and the way (thickness) you cote it. in my opinion delrin is to soft and aluminium is the way to go - with the lowest mass possible.
