There is alternate cut out part of the diff cover so the stones can escape when they get in - I've tried the lexan trick (use DS tape) and the stones still get in there.

I guess you used the 10,000 oil that is supplied with the kit. It is quite stiff, acts like a limited slip and stops the inside wheel spinning up coming out of a corner.
