LiPos don't have a linear voltage to percentage ratio. What you're looking for is being close to 7.8V. Your charger or a multimeter should tell you that.

What ESC are you running? If you do end up using the capacitor, then plug it into the receiver, but you might not need it depending on the ESC BEC capabilities.
