I don't think my $200+ Orion or Hyperion will cut off exactly when needed or maybe I need to read the manuals!
Pretty sure the Hyperion has a setting for end voltage, I set my powerlab to terminate charge at 8.39v.

Right, if the case is roar approved with a sticker they don't need to check. Just a guess, the non roar packs out there have the same size case as its become an industry standard, its the cells or just the fact that the lipo maker didn't pay for roar approval that leaves the pack without roar approval.

Danny said before that the 7200 is at the cases limit and any normal pack swelling that you would have with a 6500 or 5500 or whatever is pushing against the case with the 7200 where the smaller packs do not. So the same thing is going on in there but it is not noticed with the smaller mah packs.

Sorry but it also makes the best business sense to offer pre order. 2nd reason is uneducated commenting on what and how he spends money from preorders and how he runs his business is just ignorant.
I was someone who made a comment about not purchasing from SMC due to the pre-order process. I did not disparage his business decision nor do I expect to be told that I am a d........ for having my my own opinion. I am certain that the owner is a stand up guy from all the support he receives;however, I choose to not purchase this way. My initial issue was why can't some general shipping time be given and why would I be charged before they are shipped. After the positive reviews and the price point, I would like to buy and try. I just chose not to pay up front with no idea when I would receive them. I for one appreciate your service and would hope that your service also defends the rights of those who happen to disagree with you.

I think the reason for no firm ship date is because SMC doesn't know for sure when they will come in. He has to rely on a factory in China to get it right and ship. There have been a few times where they are ready to ship a batch and found an issue setting the date back.

If you look at so many rc companies that are putting a new ESC or car on the market and it gets delayed, everyone's panties get tied up in a bunch so I wouldn't give a firm date either.
Kinda damned if you do and damned if you don't.

You can always pick up a reedy race pack for 2x the price and get it right now, or if you are not in a rush you can buy SMC's race pack with same or better quality and performance.

The above post is correct, Danny used to have a good general idea of when his shipment would arrive but anymore it is nothing more than a guess until he receives shipping info from the factory. The lead time on his orders has been getting longer and longer, Like I said in an earlier post where his orders used to be here 3-4 weeks after placing them that timeframe has up to 10-12 weeks and in some cases even longer. Trust me when i say danny would much rather have his product in stock ready to ship and throw the pre-order stuff in the garbage. It is what it is and he has catered to his customers with this pre-order system as best as he can.

That being said if you want packs I and don't want to pre-order I would keep a close eye on the website www.smc-racing.net over the next few week starting with tomorrow because he has several orders that are suppose to be in carrying most models. I am sure danny will post what comes in on his facebook page, I will copy and paste it here as soon as I see it to let those that don't like FB know what has come in.

WooHoo my shorty finally shipped. Now if I could just keep it out of the wall maybe I could make the A Main in stock buggy again.

I ordered like a month ago... It really depends on when you preordered.

I emailed SMC through their website asking about shorty pack stock and they said it would come in around the 14th. I placed my pre-order and it shipped today. Considering that that the 14th was a Thursday, I think that's pretty accurate.

I really don't see what the big deal is all about.

What rate can I charge the 4600 shorty pack at? 4.6 amps? Higher?

Great. Thank you. I've been charging everything at 1C out of a combination of caution and insufficient information so this will speed things up a bit.

I emailed them about a week ago and he said the batteries I want should of come in today. so I went ahead and ordered them. I can't believe how hard it is to find a lipo battery. or should I say a decent lipo. everyone has a venom in stock but I'm not about to throw down $199 for a lipo because I'm not some star on the cover of a magazine.

especially since the gig is up about how these things are made. just a hand full of companies make pretty much all brands. considering they all come from the same place just about I can't justify spending top $ on a name.

So I know there are going to be people out there who are going to disapprove of this, but I would just like to get some knowledge.

We own a range of 2s packs from 5000 to 6600 and most of the time we charge them at max amps possible from my thunderpower charger which is 20amps. Most of our batteries are charging at 3C-4C and they are the nanotechs and haven't seen much problem. I was curious as to the lifespan I would be seeing when charging them at these rates vs. charging them at 1C-2C?

My new SMC saddle packs are going to be my first few packs that I have paid a little more for and would like to keep them in tip top condition since I don't run my cars on a normal basis, more like once every 3 months due to schooling. What is the best way to keep these SMC batteries long lasting whether it be charging or storaging them?

Thanks for the input.

Store them a 60%
Charge them at 1C, if you got the time to wait.
