from my experience, charging at high amps (30-40) will not puff a battery (which of course is not to say it could never happen, just has never happened to me. probably because any battery that you're putting through those paces is for use in a stock class and the amp draw of those motors isn't enough to puff the battery which is how most puffing occurs). it most definitely lowers the IR regardless of the C rating of the pack. the chemistry of why it works applies to all batteries. the downside is that yes, the performance of the battery will decline much quicker charging and discharging at high rates (IR gradually goes up).

I cycle my SMC 2S 6000mah at 18A and dischargw at 30A (will go to 40 when my 406duo comes in, the 308 is limited to 30a). My IR after cycling and throughout the day sit around 1.4 to 1.5

What Internal Resistance are you seeing after a charge/discharge/charge cycle? Whay amps are you charging and discharging at?

Not sure about the IR.. I have a HiTec quad charger..and X2. Charge at 6 to 10..all my charger has..I'm 8 scale racer and charge my kid's batteries so I dont need to hit them hard, I need them to last

I do have a multi meter..guess I could check it like that.
Discharge rate is whatever the motor or ESC wants while I'm pulling the triger
After a run its stored or recharged depending on race.
I run two 2s 7200's, thats what this battery is kinda supposed to be rated from the site info.
Just seems to have way less puch?? thinking not broken in yet

How low of IRs are you getting discharging at 12A? Do they retain the punchiness all throughout a race?

Didn't notice an SMC esc thread but i have a question. what is the yellow jst terminal for on the RF-120 program box. I know you use the Blue one for the ESC programming but wondering what the yellow is for?

I've been discharging at 30A and charging at 15A with my ProMatch Lipos. One time, I tried charging at 20A and the Lipo got a bit warm which concerned me (after discharging at 30A then immediately charging at 20A) . So I'm not doing that again. I don't really see a difference in performance when charging at 20A as oppose to 15A

Cain,
Sorry for late reply. I raced last weekend and we got rained out in the middle of round 2 of qualifying and I did not finish either of my 2 qualifiers due to plastic stock steering servo horn breaking on run 1 and pinion spinning loose on run 2.
But in practice with the 4S 4500 low profile battery, I set my phone clock on a 10:30 countdown timer and ran 1 to 2 practice laps before starting the timer. I even paused the timer when needing marshalling in practice when about 5 seconds went by after being on my lid and restarted when someone righted my car. I then ran 2 more bonus laps after the timer sound went off.
I only put in like 2300mA back into the pack on the charge and the track was still overly wet from the overnight rains and the car was loaded up with probably several hundred grams of dirt stuck on.
So these packs work fine for 10 minutes mains.
