http://www.vxrracing.com/images/prod...ow_dropout.jpg From what I understand, that isn't possible running 6 cell (7.2 volt) But is if your running LIPO airplanes. Found a company that makes these. Darn, though I had myself a little product. |
The company who makes this is VXR Racing
The unit is powered by a 2 cell lipo 7.4V. A li-po when fully charged will give out about 8.2V. It also has the low voltage indicating LED that lights up when the input voltage is below 6.2V... if you look at their website, the have a useful explanaition. I am waiting for the 5A series for my 4WS crawler too.. |
OK, well see, that a bit of a different deal then.
Thing I made is powered off main battery, to deliver stronger power to the servo only. BEC from ESC still powers receiver and PT, but it handles that fine. I have a QC esc with low bec output. My spektrum didn't work unless I used a cap. Even then, when jogging steering left and right, the PT light would blink indicating a sever drop in available current. Now everything works good. Going to give it a full day of race testing today. |

If you have problems, I suggest getting a hold of the TECH support at Horizon. I spoke to Gary Keys at the iHobby show not to long ago, and they helped fix my problem.
Spektrum is so clean and smooth, I recomend everyone get one so HATERS can't drive your car from the pits. Mr.B |
I'm not a Spektrum hater but since I've been having problems with mine, (2 weeks old) I can't get any support from Horizon. I'm friends with John Adams & several Horizon people but can't get any replies or help from them. I've called, left voice mails, & sent e-mails. I talked to a tech guy the other day about my problem & he said "I don't know, never heard of that." That really helps! Luckily my local hobby shop where I bought my system was watchiing the problem with my car the other day & let me use his new shelf Spektrums to try & fix the problem. Even though the antenna in my module was routed correctly, my car would stall on the track on the starts & when you let off the throttle at the end of the straightaways, it would continue to throttle up making you either hit the walls or overshoot all the corners. I finally changed the module with a new one and it seems ok now. Thanks Horizon!

Sounds like they need to overhaul the whole system! glad i waited!!!

WOW Rick I am not the only person with that problem. I have that same problem with two different car. Same TX and controler different rx's. At top speed down the front staight, let off for the turn. Turn in. Goes straight and stays wide open. Blasted threw the outter wall then takes off across the parking lot straight toward the curb. Stops by itself about 10 feet away from the curb. Second car going down the back straight, steer the car left car goes right then accelerates to full speed hits the out barrier. Car dead. Wont workk after. You turn the the on/off switch to the own position. The RX light flashes slightly then goes out and stays out. This was on carpet. I bought a new M11 with the Spektrum, thinking I wouldnt have any more of these problems. Boy was I wrong. Seams like you have no probelms you love it other people have problems and scratch there heads. Is there a name change in the future Rektum? I pitty the poor souls who use this in there planes. Dont get me wrong I like the system. just would like to get it working like they say it will.

I have also found the the Spektrum system wont work with Assoc 18B's and also Assoc AI ESC's. Can anyone tell me why this is.
|
WTF? I wish I would have read this thread before. I just pulled the TX apart and found the antenna routed the wrong way. I thought this was only a problem from the people who assembled them. I sent mine to Horizons in Ill because my was an early M8 system. They were going to update the software and mod if to work in my new M11. Horizon of Ill assembled it wrong! It looks like they nibbled the board to allow the two extra pins a place to go. Should I be pissed with two broken cars and now rx that wont work beacuse the car hit the wall so damn hard. I know it is the rx because I plugged another friends Rektum in to mine and it worked. What should I do?????????????

I am sure you guys are getting sick of me, but one last question. From talking to the Spektrum rep at the recent I hobby show in LA. I was telling him about my problems. One of the things he told me to do was cut the antenna wire to 3.6" . Is that 3.6" fromt he outside of the case or taking the rx apart and measure from the board? thanks!
|
Mine did some pretty weird stuff like that before I installed the 4700mf capacitor wired to a servo plug and plugged into the receiver.
Lukily I hadn't tracked the car with the problems. I was pretty freaking hot at first. Read back on this thread, about page one or two... Since I figured out the cap (which by the way I was the first to suggest that on this thread) I haven't had any problems. Now I have constructed a device that powers the servo independently from the BEC from the receiver. It works fabulous. |

PitCrew, here's another "little product" you missed out on!

so if your problem is with a quantum etc and your PT then you need one of these... |
