I ran 2 completaly different cars today (both with Spektruma) & at the start of the heats when I punched the throttle, the car never budged for 2-3 seconds, then took off. It didn't flinch & appeared that the whole car was dead. Anyone seen this? Thanks. R.W.

well you are a "masters" driver....getting old, hmmmm perhaps you thought you pulled the throttle...probably a case of "old-timers" disease...LOL....
i've started using the spectrum in a K.O. Mars, in my touring car...working perfectly so far...hope that problem doesn't hit me....

Yes it sounds like you have one of the older receivers (the one with the lag). I had one as John Adams could tell by taking the case off and looking at the bind button. He just replaced my at the track, but I had a few more receivers at home and I checked them and they were ok. I'll look back through my notes to see if I still have exactly what on the bind button that gave it away. You may also try and contact their support and see if they can tell you what to look for on the bind button. I'm assuming you tried to e-mail John? Dec. 1 19 turn practice/club race at HnH?

I just bought this from Kevin so I'm not sure how long he had it or how old it is. Not sure what we're doing on the 1st. After running last Sunday we realized how different it can be at a different track so we're not sure running 19t on a smaller track is going to do us any good. Maybe run stock just to run? I'll talk to Jim. R.W.

The cap has to be plugged into the receiver to get the advantage from it, not between the batt and and esc.

There is a new solution about to be out for the Spektrum issue with "lag" due to insufficient BEC current. It also eliminates the need for the capacitor, and stops all the problems with the receiver turning on and off due to the use of high end high current draw servos.

It powers ONLY the servo, and allows the BEC to power only the receiver and personal transponder.
5volt regulated output at up to 2 amps.
If someone can tell me how to attach a picture, I will post one.

Can be done pretty cheap with diodes and capacitor to power servo, leaving BEC only for transpoder and receiver. Thats what I did on my electric, not because I had issues with the specktrum, just because I wanted to supply the servo with more volts :)

Emailed Horizon Hobby back in May 05 but never heard any more of it. (opps forgot to tell them about the cap)

When you hit "Reply", the page you reply on, just scroll down a bit and you will see "Additional Options". From there, click on the "Manage Attachments". Another window will open up and then chose what you want to attach.

No diodes, no caps, and no resistors.

This is REGULATED 5 volt output. So if main pack is at 7.5 volts: output is 5 volts 2 amps. if main pack is at 6.4 volts, output is 5 volts, 2 amps.

Its about the size of a capacitor, and weighs about the same.

Looks like two 1 Amp 7805 regulators to me.

I wanted 6 volts to my servo so couldn't use regulators since min input voltage would have to be > 7.2V it would be no good.

For those who want to wire one up, remember google is your friend :)

Or, you can buy one that is pre-fabricated... ;)

Here it is mounted on the front left corner of the top brace on my FK04.

I did not notice ANY loss of response speed due to the slight reduction in voltage. I don't need a cap now, and even with the cap (without using this device) under high steering load, I noticed the light on the PT would blink, indicating a drop in voltage to the servo because the quantum can't put out that much power.
