Hi everyone,

Ive just purchased the DSM system, and have some question about the installation of the receiver if you could please answer for me.

It says you can cut the wire down to 3.6 for easy installation......how is it going to be easier to install with a shorter wire?

Will this length be short enough for the antenna tube to stay within the shell without having to cut a hole, or is it recommended to have the antenna tube sticking out?

Has anybody tried running without the antenna tube and just having the wires wrapped up along the side of the receiver, will this work?

thanks.

Hi Christian, I'm driving with the DSM too. I didn't cut the antenna for a simple reason, I didn't want to risk any possible glitches. I cut my antenna tube to around half the length of my antenna itself, I put the antenna throught it, so it will be low enough to stay under the shell, but the end is not able to reach any moving part of the car. It works really well for me, of course don't just cut you tube to around the half, just check how long the tube can me, and cut it of a little lower than your shell. Just to be sure the antenna can't get near your belt.

I run my wire un-cut bunched up somewhere on my cyclone so you dont see it, for the track I get more then enough range, but I do this for racing only, I got sick of the antenna tube and all lol.. For bashing you would want a lil stub antanna tube, But inside of the body doesnt affect range..

Thanks Rick and BlackedOutREVO for your response, when cutting the tube Rick, you say about half the length, this would still hit the top of the shell and bend along the top correct.... and with this length cut is the reseiver wire cut to 3.6 inches as described in the instructions?

You can cut the wire with no ill effect as long as you don't cut it shorter then what the manual tells you to. I run all my cars with shorter wire and a stub tube. They all fit under the body with no issues what so ever. Only car it even sticks out of the body anymore is my BK2. All my sedans and my truck is under the body.

A trick I learned for my off-road buggy was to bend the antenna tube. That way you can bend it across the car and it will not need stick out the body (At least on a B4 I can do this.)
I bent the antenna by applying heat to it.

I can really cut it to 3.6 with no affect on range? Then why would it come bigger?

If theres no affects at all when the antenna is bunched up, I am going to go cut my wire lol:D

Somehow the case on my Pro unit snapped. Its the little plastic piece that that antenna sits in, nowmy antenna just flops around. I have 3 weeks until my next race, anyone ever sent this in to be fixed? What is the return time?

You CAN cut the antenna down to 3.6", but you don't need to. I have never altered the length of the antenna on any of my receivers, and I've run them in everything from 1/18th scale cars up to 1/8th scale.

The sooner you can get it in the better. I would include in the letter you send in with it that you have a race coming and request the repair be expidited. That might help get it to you in time.

New Help - Spektrum DX 3.0

I purchased a DX3.0 about 4 months back. I encountered a problem with Grip Level B that controls the Steering Dual Rate Trim Adjustment.

I can increase the % rate but not decrease it at all. :weird: Is there a problem with the transmitter? Or did I set something incorrectly to cause this?:weird::weird:

HELP!

This has happened to me a while ago. I had to use thick CA to reattach it, and inserted an inner tube inside the part where the antenna goes inside the casing. this is to prevent any future problems with the legs snapping off when the antenna is bumped. A few thick automotive O rings are good for this. Just remember to have the insert snug against the legs when the antenna is inserted. No problems so far. Couldn't be bothered sending it back to repair as things happen pretty slowly here in Australia.

Thats wierd, my dx 2.0 works fine, but mine is 4 months old...

But mine goes up and down... Is the button like loose and it isnt getting pushed because its getting pushed into the radio? Or does it just not work?

Jake S 08-13-2007 11:26 AM

in both my t4 and b4 i have the full antenna, but my tube is half the length of the wire, i just folded the wire down along the side, and used shrink wrap around the antenna wire and tube, works great, fits under the body of my t4 perfectly, and is just about as tall as the wing on the b4, of course i used antenna caps on both....have yet to have any issues with glitching or anything.
