hi,
so if I would to use my Futaba 3PK Spektrum module with the Losi DSM receiver, there will not be a problem right? Sorry, if I asked a redundant question. I just would like to have a confirmation on that... it is much cheaper... :D thanks for the great info!! |

It does work with the Spektrum modules, radios, and the DX3R. However I am not sure that the range is the same between the Losi and the Spektrum units. But if you buy a Slider have confidence in the fact that, if you want to use your own radio instead of the one it comes with, it will work.

It's sure looks like the spektrum one. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same unit, after all Losi and Spektrum are both Horizon's ;)

Funny thing is the price is low compared to spektrum one

They are physically different receivers. One major difference you can see right away is the Losi receiver uses a bind plug, where the Spektrum receivers had bind buttons. The PCBs are different to accomodate each different bind method. While I don't know the ins and outs on the Losi unit it wouldn't surprise me that there are other differences as well.

The Spektrum 3500 micro receiver does not have a bind button. It uses a bind plug.

The SR3000 and SR3001, which are the ones people are comparing the Losi receiver to, most certainly do have a Bind Buttons.

Yep...several of us have them. They seem to work just fine. myrcsupply.com has them for 30-something...I think 35-37 bucks or so. :D

I liked the one in my Slider so much, I bought one for my XXX-R Dirt Oval late model, and it works like a charm! The only thing I've noticed is that if I'm down at ground level (not up on the driver's stand), the range is a bit short ("fail safe" has kicked in twice in 4 weeks at about 120' or so -- not every time, just once in a while). However, once I'm up on the stand, it's flawless all night long. (190' indoor dirt oval)

You stated that Spektrum receivers had bind buttons. I posted a fact that the 3500 most certainly does not. If they are supposed to, my 3 are defective.
Unless I didn't go back far enough, I don't see where anyone compared the Losi unit to any Spektrum unit. The only posts I can find ask if the Losi will work with regular Spektrum transmitters and modules. None of my posts mention the 3000 or 3001 anywhere. What started my series of posts was someone having trouble binding his 3500 receiver to his Futaba radio and someone advising him to push the bind button on the receiver. |
broken SR3500 RX case
I had a bit of an accident this weekend resulting in the case of my SR3500 micro RX splitting in half. Everything appears to work still as I still have throttle and steering control. Two of the tabs on the bottom that hold the top half on are gone and the bottom section has been split in half. The circuit board came away in one piece and is only fixed to the upper section by things being plugged into it still.
Is the only way to get this fixed to send it in to Horizon or does anyone know of a part number for just the receiver case? Thanks in advance, Chris |

As a follow up to my previous question, I've found that Horizon/Spektrum won't ship just the receiver case. They require the receiver to be sent in for repair to ensure the circuit board isn't damaged during the transplant.
The good part is that they'll do it for free. :) Chris |
That's good info, i wasn't aware of that.
