I'm going to stick with the recommended 4700 microfarad cap
I assume that radio shack would carry the type of caps we have been talking about right? Which one should I look for?

Don't mean to cause ruckus. But thought i would share this. Got this after the fact that i cut my antenna and searched the Spektrum site for what i thought was the answer... now i'm really confused... oh well..

Submitted FAQ: It is stated in the instructions that the antenna length is 8.5in and can be cut to exactly 3.6in if desired. Is that to be understood that those are the only length options for proper performance? Can the antenna be cut to any length between 3.6 and 8.5 and still deliver optimum performance?

Boy, you are really going to piss off the radio wave gods now OSherman!

For everyone that keeps insisting that the antenna must be the correct length (to the mm), I've posted this before, but apparently no one saw it. The theoretical range of these systems is 3000 feet. 3000 FEET! Ok, so at a BIG track you might need about 175 feet, but I don't think that much really. So, lets do the math........... we are using at a maximum, 5.83% of that range, and in line of sight.

Wavelength science aside, no one should ever have a problem with range in an R/C car, even if your antenna is 5.3699 inches long! You guys crack me up. ;)

Seems nothing wrong with my mini-express with 23T and LRP 400CR plus KO servo

One important point: seems no battery drained at the transmitter. The voltage remained the same for over 10 minutes power on.

It provides power when your battery pack runs down. Ran mod foam tonight and 2 of us had problems when the battery got drained, the steering would lock in a corner. He put the cap in and don't believe he had anymore problems.

Yes, Brian is correct..... we installed the capacitor and had no problems the rest of the night.

SPEKTRUM USERS.....My little anntena on the module that goes into the back of my radio is sort of loose. It no longer has the stiffness it had when new. Performance hasn't been affected but it is something that I would like to correct. Do you think I should take the screws out and see if it can be tightened or should I just deal with it? I don't want to send it in just for that in fear of not getting it back before the Reedy Race. Any suggestions????

Speedo 05-01-2005 10:31 AM

If it were me, I'd take it appart. Spektrum doesn't seem to mind if you take them appart - they tell you to do so in the manual if you want to change the position of the antenna wire on the transciever.
