I am new so info would be great and sorry for the "dumb" questions.

I am about to get a Tekin 17.5 motor and a Speed Passion GT 2.1 ESC how well will these work together?

I will be running it in my Losi XXX-SCT RTR on a HobbyPeople 5000mAh 35c battery.

When I turn on the ESC, the light goes on, but BEC (power to reciever) is not working. The fan is not turning. The ESC did not overheat (after 1 minute of racing, the outside temp was 13deg C).

Any ideas what went wrong and what to do? I suppose this should be fixed under warranty?

Thanks,
Miha.
Warranty is 90days, contact the place that you bought the ESC and ask for the warranty service.

Not asking question before buying any of your gears, that is DUMB.

I am sure TEKIN is a good motor, but why not try the SPEED PASSION MMM 17.5 motor...? Multiple Europe Championships and 2X World Champion...can't go wrong with that.

At least you choose a good ESC, the GT2.1 ProStock is a great ESC.

We have couple SCT 17.5 setup on our website....take a look.

I haven't heard of any issues running the Tekin 17.5 motor. I actually ran a Tekin 17.5 if I recall correctly with the SP GT2.0 Pro back in the day on both 1S and 2S usage so I believe you should be fine.

If the MMM is too much money, there V3.0 motors are available for a good price new, I believe its like $60? The really nice thing about the motors in addition to how they perform is the fact that they have that plug setup. Really makes changing things out a snap.

Some really old information told me that it was listed as 28T...that is like 1250kv...something slower then 25.5 and with medium torque.

I have recently purchased a SCT Master esc and Compv3 17.5 motor for my SC10FT and I have had no problems with the setup at all other than running about 150f-155f after 10 min main 28/75 gears (AE recommended gear). Should I drop a pinion or is it alright to run the SP v3 17.5 at those temps because I really need the top end for a jump at my local track. I want the motor to last for awhile but also need to get every bit of power to be competitive in the class. Thanks!

Your gearing is a bit off. It's better suited for buggy. Go bigger on spur like 81,83, or 85 and check temps.

Thanks for the reply! The only reason I haven't lowered my gearing yet is I have to compete with Tekin pro setups and LRP setups and need every bit of power/topend. I guess I have to or risk frying motor right? Thanks!

Just got my 2.0 pro today and I am a little confused with software firmware update.

I will be running this in a 4x4SC with a 4pole 4000KV motor.

I consider this a mod motor and I see all the warnings on Speed Passions site about using Stock Software with mod motors.

Do I want 110323 stock? That seems to be all that I can find and it does not say anything about no mod motors.

Mundy,
believe it or not, I run my Cirtix 4400kv in blinky mode on my 2.0 Carbon, geared 54-16 in my Supa Slash 4x4.
It is out of control-stupid fast if your run in 323, and just plain fast in 119. I would turn off all enhancements if you run in the 119 profile. Timing and boost off.
