I did change the sensor wire and the issue was still there. I did try to lower the can timing and on the bench so far the issue has went away. Hopefully that was the issue but will not know until I get it on the track.

Why would you want reverse? You can't use reverse in a race. Basically it is useless, unless you use your R/C at home just driving around.

Being in a wheelchair if I hit a pipe or get stuck in the corner reverse is extremely important. I understand in racing its not need but practicing it's nice to not have to wait for someone else to wreck to get unstuck

[QUOTE=Scargoes;13035782]#1: make sure the spur/pinion mesh isn't too tight, Use the paper trick to set mesh. Take a small piece of notebook paper and set it between the spur and pinion and slide the gears together tight, tighten down the motor screws. rotate the gears to remove the paper. Mesh should be correct. Drivetrain bind is a sure way to generate excessive heat.

thanks for the info. I always run my gear mesh a little on the loose side so i know that is not the issue.
i found on speed passions website the specs for the motor. They say 4.8-6.0 FD ratio. i calculated it with both setups, first with the 70/29 i am at 5.86 FD. With the second setup 76/30 FD is 6.15. am leaning towards a defective motor, what do you think?

also on the ESC i am running stock setup. i have not changed the preset values.

Any chance of every coming out with a software you can run Stock (blinky) and still have reverse? I'd like to stay with SP but I need reverse.

I'm not sure what SP's plans are, but in the meantime there is somewhat of a workaround. This isn't the most convenient method, but you could run MOD0 with 0 timing setting on practice days, and load STO0 on race days.

when running the blaze 5700 in sct do i need to be able to use timing or boost to take advantage of it ?

koopesv 02-24-2014 09:32 AM

Two questions

First does anyone know where I can get pro LCD box for the gt series esc
Second prostock esc can handle lower turn motor if I change the software. But can I run a lower turn motor if I turn off the supercharger settings

My reventon pro looks like it may have died this weekend. Was running in a b4.1 with a competition v3.0 17.5 running stock0 firmware, geared 35/72. esc never got more than a couple degrees above ambient, motor 50C max. Worked fine for practice, qualifying, 2 mains, then when I went to run the third main it turned on fine, steering worked fine, but pulling the throttle gave nothing. recalibrated, still nothing. give it a slight push though and if off the ground the wheels will spin, but when on the ground it coggs very very badly.

obviously replaced the sensor cable, which made no difference. motor still works fine with an xerun 60a so thats not the problem either.

esc was purchased via speedpassion au warehouse on 18th August 2013, and only has at most 20 runs on it.

Any suggestions/ideas/anything?

Sucks to here that happend Kingy saw that on ocau. did another ESC die also ?

I run a reventon R in my DEX210 with a 17.5 MMM and timing at 20deg with 34/69 gearing motor temps always around 70-80deg after 5 min races.

sounds terminal only suggestion I have at least there cheap to replace :)

nah, just the rev. pro.

cheap enough, true, but rather upsetting to have an esc stop working after very little use, and my rc budget is rather tight these days,

Can you try and update the software to see if it doesn't reset all parameters?

Longshot, but worth a shot I think. Also look for any stray strands of wire shorting on a different contact point. A friend of mine had this on his RS Pro last year and it ran fine for a little over a month but all of a sudden it shot a puff of smoke and he didn't see anything wrong but I took a peek and immediately saw the single strand reaching out and was actually soldered to a different point. It was from one of the motor leads to another which is likely why it worked for so long, but eventually proved too much and burnt it up.

Plugged it into my pc, all the settings were still fine, but just to be sure I updated it to latest stock0 firmware, and reset all settings. Recalibrated everything and checked all soldering, everything looks fine. See below photos and video's

Only thing I can think of is I had a issue really bad cogging wouldn't move unless I either full throttled or gave the wheels a spin, problem was my sensor board put a spare in and it was all good.

i know you tried it with a Xerun ESC but its like the revention always need good Sensor feedback otherwise they dont like it at all.

Logic tells me the the ESC aint right internally, sadly support from SP can be lacking, Solara on here can normally assist or give some advice send him a PM

kingy1 02-25-2014 07:33 PM

Just to be 100% sure, I hooked it up to a known working trinity revtech 13.5t to check, and got exactly the same result.
