looking to put together a TLR22 SCT and wondering if a Reventon R with an 8.5 would be a competitive combo. It is med to large indoor clay off road with traction being medium to high. I will ask around at the track as well to see what turn motors are used in mod. Are the 4wd sc mods the type of vehicle which would use a Blaze style motor? thanks. An 8.5 generally a good motor to run in Mod 2WD SC. Some run lower winds, but can't always handle the power. |

ROAR rules indicate that rotor diameter must be between 12.29 and 12.51 mm. This one is 12.5 so should be good.
You always want to look at the latest rules and you can find them on the ROAR website. www.roarracing.com. I think it's a pdf file you can download. There's a lot in there, but if you race ROAR events you should read it anyway. |
reason I ask is that it was mentioned ot me there is something specific about the rotor that the one in question is lacking:

Only one piece, two pole Neodymium sintered, or Ferrite (Ceramic) magnetic rotors are permitted. The magnet length shall be 25.0 +/- 1.00mm not including any non-magnetic balancing material. The magnet outside diameter shall be a maximum of 12.51 mm, no tolerance, for the entire length of the magnet. The shaft outside diameter, where the magnet is mounted, shall be 7.25 +/- 0.150mm for the entire length of the magnet. This dimension must be measurable without destroying the rotor. |

I ordered the Speed Passion Competition MMM 10.5 motor today, and can't wait to try it out! I will be using it to race in 2wd Short Course in a Kyosho Ultima SC, and most likely a Hobbywing ESC. Just wondering if anyone had suggestions for a starting point on gearing and timing? Thanks for the help for a newbie!

It does not come whit those gold pins that you can see in the pics of it, instead It has a hole... And can't find a way to fit them... Can those pins be added to the ESC? I can't even solder the 14awg included properly... They come off alone... Please any help would be really appreciated... |

I soldered 12AWG to my R just fine, but you have to know how to solder and how to manipulate tined ends. I tined the ends properly and then used my crimpers to squeeze to make them narrower. As well, you have to remove ALL the solder front he points on the ESC so they are fully open. Then you slide the crimped ends through and place a touch of flux on them and touch with the iron while adding an additional TOUCH of solder.
Should look just like factory solder points if you do it right. |

Today I was going over my truck to prepare for racing tonight, and I noticed the positive wire came clean out of the glitch buster on my Reventon Pro. Has anyone tried going without the glitch buster? Is it necessary? And if it is necessary and I replace it tonight, can I use any glitch buster?

You can use another brand if they have it at the track. Most are sold by RC companies are rated the same. |
