try to recalibrate

Wildcat1971 08-28-2013 07:46 AM

Anyone run the SP Competition 3.0 17.5R motor with adjustable timing in blinky mode? How well do these work out of the box. I have no desire to play with rotors or other tweaks.

The default setting of the ESC are using 30% brake...use the programmer card and adjust the brake to 100%. Or...if no programmer card, you can still adjust the brake setting via the setup button, go thru the manual and follow the adjustment instruction.

ok thank you for that information,so is there any other way beside the "programmable card" to get the stock club race esc going, cause theres no brakes ,please...

Page 12 of the manual showing how to adjust the ESC setting via the setup button...no need to use the programmer card.

I have the MMM version (in 2wd buggy right now) and have used the regular Comp 3.0 in touring blinky.

Out of the box, the motor is very smooth, with the MMM having a bit more power probably do to the timing board it comes with (Red versus black).

I needed more torque though for the buggy so went with the bigger rotor and a green timing board.

As a suggestion, try simulating the timing via one of the mod programs, that way, you can see what board would work and just buy that board since they are not cheap.

yeah, I am not sure I will need to boost it. But if I do need to, I will. Smooth and low on torque might work out well as long as temps are not high because the motor is working too hard. So I should just crank the timing all the way up? and boost if I need more?

1) install software
2) hook up esc to the pc
3) launch software
4) update firmware
5) disconnect and recalibrate radio
6) go super fast

yeah, with the stock board on the Comp can its pretty much 10 degrees max. So if you are allowed to run boost etc, i would just use that and not even worry about the who timing board deal.

check your pm.

Hi all

Returning to sport after long break; hope you might be able to help with Speed Passion GT2.0LPF software questions.

Been onto SP website, got what I think is latest version of software for GT series (link from both ESC page and download page is same) and downloaded to laptop. Top link on page 2 of speed passion download pages, link at bottom of their site to it. (I can't post links as I'm new!)

Plugged LCD reader in and updated, plugged into ESC and it already has same code for software, previous owner had upgraded.

However; I see a lot of mention of 428MOD on SP website and forums, but LCD reader isn't displaying these numbers??

Exact messages I'm getting from reader are:

On power up: Speed Passion V1.07_110119
On clicking OK when connected to ESC: ESC Software Ver V3.0_110119_MOD

Am I using an older version or is this latest and 428MOD is just a shorter code for software version? Or have I got a more recent version than 428?

Any help appreciated; I've a few more questions which I could do with asking if you guys have time.

Thanks, Andrew (UK timezone!)

Welcome. You need to load the 428MOD onto the speedo from your computer. Not from the box. It should show up as an option on the computer when you connect it. Here is a video that may be helpful, just use the download instead of the disk. Recalibrate the speedo to the radio after changing software. If I remember correctly 323 is the latest stock boost software.

Brushless ESC program Software upgrade with LCD unit

I run that motor in blinky mode with a green timing board at about 15 degrees and its plenty fast and smooth. This is in a B4.2 and in a T4.2 .

Dave H

Thanks for that; much appreciated. Hooked all up (had done box to pc, and box to esc, but not all three together) and there was a list of software in the drop down menu.

There's a lot to choose from; anyone able to confirm that version 428mod is the absolute latest? (I'm running B44.2 with a speed passion 6.5 motor)

I'm guessing there won't be any further updates of this software as product is not the latest?

I'll move onto (probably dumb!) questions about settings etc when I've seen what settings are on 428mod...assuming it's correct version from list.

Thanks again for any help, much appreciated.

Wildcat1971 08-30-2013 12:18 PM

is there anyway possible ( i assume no) to run the mod firmware and engage blinky mode on the SP GT Pro 2.0? I know you can zero out the boost and turbo, but I dont think the esc blinks when you do that. I know the orions can switch modes and I am unsure because both SP and orion are HW based esc's
