Revention Stock Club ESC questions

A coupe of questions, does the Speed Passion Revention Club Stock ESC have a reverse function? When I got it, I assumed that it did, but other than a brief mention in the instruction manual (which is a generic coverall manual for multiple revention model ESCs) it appears that there is no mention of whether the ESC does in fact have a reverse.

If the ESC does in fact have reverse, the instructions are unclear as to how to program the reverse function on this particular ESC . Out of the box, the ESC does not have the reverse function programed. I have programed the full throtle, nuteral, and full break already per the insructions.

I appreciate your help.

Cheers,
Wally

had a good time with the Speed Passion 17.5 MMM motor and my B4.X yesterday. TQ'd and won and amain in a full mod class lol.

I got a question on the thermal protection, when you hit it on the esc, what exactly happens during driving? Does the car slow down, shut off, etc? What temp does this occur?

For our 50 x 50 track I was ending up with boosted timing gearing at 22 pinion x 81T spur. Motor had 30 degrees of mechanical timing, added 10 of boost timing starting at RPM 3000Kv range.

Any tips feel free to shoot them by. Also, used a 12.5mm rotor. I think though I may drop in a 13.5 MMM with a 12.5mm rotor.

what boards are you guys running in 17.5 blinky? my track is 80X46. so far ive maxed my timing(black board so 10 degrees total) and im running 32T pinion and either a 75T or 72T spur. so far the temps are low at the track. i dont want to gear up much more since i already feel like im lacking a bit of low end. but our track layout is changing this week so i guess i will try out my current gearing there.

What ESC should be used for a 4x4 SC truck with a 5.5 550 can?

And will it feel smoother than a RX8?

And where the best place to purchase Speed Passion products, I never have but im hearing it will me super smooth?

Thanks

Wally,
The Stock Club Race does not have reverse. The Reventon S has that feature and is typically around the same price. Since reverse it not allowed at most races they disabled it in the Stock Club Race lineup.

This is the place and the ESC you want.

From the look of things you can either use the GT2.0 Pro or the Reventon pro as long as you are not trying to time the heck out of it.

I personally used the GT2.0 Pro with the Tekin 5.5 and it worked great.

I would say picking up the green timing board could be useful. You could also pick up the high torque rotor as well in a 12.5mm configuration.

i started to dislike my motor today actually. since the car is out of commission i decided to clean everything. pulled the motor appart and clay dust/sand actually poured out of the can. not a ton, but enough to concern me. i really dont want to have to pull the motor appart after every race day/practice day to clean it. the sensor board seems kindof fragile, and i really dont want to mess it up. is there any way to help keep dust and dirt out of the can?

ill look into the rotor and timing board. once i pick up some propper tires i will make a decision, my tires might have been the real problem.

what rotor is that? im looking at rotors and they dont say high torque, lol

Usually hitting the motor with some motor cleaner will do the trick, i haven't heard of issues doing this with it fully assembled nor have I seen any when I have done it.

For a fully sealed motor design, you may need to go with a different brand, and other motors are easier to do blinky since they just spin the can for timing versus sensor boards.

question for everyone, to replicate how mechanical timing is done with software, what settings do you need to use with say the 428 stock software? I am assuming this could give matt or anyone else a way to simulate what timing board would do to the motor on blinky mode before buying the timing board.

this is on the one I am using:

http://www.speedpassion.net/us/produ...S13803NA&c=MTR

you can probably use this one as well:

http://www.speedpassion.net/us/produ...=RS13803&c=MTR

For the first one I had to really hunt for it, its like never in stock.

I hope that whatever motor speed passion does in the future for blinky stock will:

- Have full timing options with degrees stated on the can, no need for timing boards
- 12.5mm rotor out of the box as an option

Maybe they could offer a build a motor program like novak does?

Ane "the place" and which one? lol

Don't know if anyone asked about this but...

Today I put in a fresh Rev pro and followed all the calibration steps, beeps and all. I was able to set it up and it saved for the heat before the main. By the time I got to the main, its as if the esc "forgot" the setting. Also, when racing the orange light is on and red is blinking. Whats this mean? Possibly not calibrated correctly?

Order direct through speedpassion.net.

You can easily run a 5.5 550 on a reventon pro
