Yeah, Warranty guidelines are not very clear, however and this is just MY opinion. I'm usually not worried about a very long warranty period, Typically for me when and if electronics fails its within a few months or by user error. If there is a factory defect which to me is mainly what a warranty should cover, should happen fairly soon upon first use. If you have an ESC work great for 8 months and then it stops working well I just don't see that as a factory problem, they don't build timers into things for when to stop working and if it has worked fine for 8 months then Id look at the user for using it out of its recommendations.. I'm more for Product SUPPORT as far as some human English speaking tech that knows the products and procedures to give helpful advice. I think anywhere from 6-9 months should be just fine for warranty but lifelong free support and like others, discounts for upgrades or repairs. up to maybe 2 years.

True, but if it stops working during normal use, to me at least that is a problem if its under say 1 year.

And the other side of the coin there is this from my perspective if I was making the product, the *other* guys feel there product during normal use is worth a 1 year warranty ... why don't we?

Now, I still run SP stuff even with the fact the warranty is less. The product pricewise versus quality in comparison to warranty is worth it. Plus, out of warranty replacement costs of a similar product to say another competitors 1/8 ESC is LESS than what they charge just to replace it out of warranty.

1/8 racing though is a funny thing though, its harder on electronics enough such that buying something used in that area I shy away from ESC wise. Enough so that if the prices were common in the *red* guys range for the ESC, i'd probably sell them as soon as the warranty was up just to stay in warranty

I agree though, a long warranty means nothing if you don't suppor the product. When Shawn was with SP, I had a failure of their first silver arrow that took out most of my stuff. It was a recall issue they had going on, and they made me whole as much as possible. I know thats not common, but they didn't even have to do that to be honest. I have always been a fan of SP after that even though I drift between various ESCs depending on what I am using it for, but SP always has a special place.

Now if they could make:

- A smaller 1/8 ESC
- A 1/8 motor in the 2000 - 2200Kv range for 1/8 buggy
- An ESC that can handle the 1/5 scale Savage Flux SC on 6S, heck even 8S like what castle has.
- A motor that can be used in said vehicle
- 1S Reventon Blinky ESC , cheap one, pro, etc.

Would be all set.

By the way, anyone have any of the black and / or red timing boards they are wanting to sell let me know. These need to be compatible with a 8.5T - 21.5T motor.

What is the difference between the Reventon-S and the Reventon Pro?

I'm looking for a ESC and motor for my DESC210 and I've narrowed it down to either the Rev-S or Pro with a 8.5 motor. I just don't know what features the Pro has over the S version or even what motors work well with either one.

If you could share some motor suggestions also I would appreciate it.

The S has a motor limit of 9.5, so that's no good if you're running 8.5. The Pro allows use of the Mod2 firmware which is designed for off road so that might be a better option if you want to run that - also comes with the LCD card instead of the LED one.

i just updated my reventon pro to mod2 with no issues. was kinda worried about doing it since my esc and motor worked great this weekend. However, installation went without a hitch no problems. Can't wait to try it out with the 6.5 motor i have coming in.

well, had an interesting day with my GT2.0 Pro and 4x4 SCT. ran excellent, then I made the mistake of swapping the wires plugging into my battery. Connectors heated up right off of the wires and slight smoke from the ESC. Toast right?

Well, put in another battery connected right, and it powered up. Ran two packs through it, and works! was thinking of opening it up to see what if anything was damaged, any tips on what to look for?

Can anyone tell if the SPEED PASSION Reventon Pro ESC + 17.5T Competition V.3 Motor combo is any good. I'm looking to get back into RC after a while away and wanted to know if this is any good for 2wd buggy. Will this be competitive? I'm looking to race at club level only.

I have the Pro in a 4wd and 6.5. I really like this speedo, programs really easy and is very smooth. If your just running 17.5 you could go with the Stock version for half the price. But the Pro is very nice, you wont be disappointed.
