Im needing help keeping temps down too. I have the same gear set except i have a vtx10. im getting temps in the 140*-150* range

It was good to see a Viper showing at our track in Jeff City Mo this weekend. Can't wait to try some of the products.

Slew rate is how quickly the esc adds the top speed timing after. It is measured in degrees/1000rpm. Default on most profiles is 10*/1000rpm, and adjustable in 1* increments. A lower value will be less aggressive add the dynamic timing over more rpm, a higher value will add it very quickly. Hope this helps!

When the green N led is blinking after startup it means the esc is unhappy with the neutral input signal it's receiving from the radio and it wont initialize. It's a safety feature so the esc doesnt initialize and then start running away. Make sure your throttle trim and sub trim are centered. It sounds like that was your first time turning it on and you hadn't calibrated your radio yet. For the calibration process please refer to your manual, it's very simple. Also be sure your throttle channel isn't reversed.

If you perform the calibration process and still get the N light blinking when you turn it on, try turning your throttle end points all the way up to their max value and repeating the process, I've had this solve the problem before.

If the problem STILL persists then your radio may have a problem, most likely the throttle pot is worn out and not giving a precise neutral signal. The VTX10/10R esc's are rather picky about this. Try moving your trigger forward and back about 1mm and it will likely see a happy neutral signal and initialize. Changing the deadband to middle or wide also makes the esc more forgiving on neutral signals.

I've re Calibrated the radio a few times I'll try and max out the end points and try it again and see what happens.

Thanks mini-dub

what calibration are you using.

turn on radio

hold down esc power button (with motor hooked up)
Will hear two tones.

Hold full throttle
two more tones

Go full break
Esc goes lights out

Return to nutral
Esc will flicker give power up tones and go led green for nutral.

Just making sure thats what you are following

Yes that's the calibration I'm using but when it goes to the neutral position the green N light is blinking and giving off a beep when it blinks.

beazer, make sure your throttle trims are centered at zero (even the subtrim).

Also try changing the reverse setting on the channel. The ESC doesn't care, but it might make the neutral more noticeable to the ESC. I did that once to help fix this type of issue.

Have you tried either of these suggestions?

I know every once in a while when I come off the track my VTX10 is not showing neutral. I slight pull or push of the trigger brings the ESC to show neutral.

Anyone with a quick idea on 17.5 gearing, boosted, on a XXX-SCT? VTX10 & VST17.5T. Track's got a 130ft straight, with technical'ish infield...

Sweet, at least I won't be the only one with a viper in my sc10 4x4. I've had my viper for a week. Now I will get my sc10 4x4 today. I'm really happy with the quality of my vtc10r, well packaged. I'll have the pleasure of tuning the sc10 and viper on Saturday.

Default 550/ VTXR setups

Got any setups for a vtx10R with a 4.5 550 motor? These 4.5 550's run better and cooler without any timing? I'm going to the track tomorrow to try the new esc out for the first time and compare it to the MMP I had on my truck previously. With the MMP, I was geared 12/54(DESC410R) with no timing and I'm temping in the 170's and 105 esc at lipo cutoff which over 10 min. Indoor, small, technical clay track with good traction.

Go for a final drive ratio around 10:1.

Spur/Pinion * 2.43 = Final Drive Ratio

Let me know if you need more help with the math. I just need to know what size spur gear you have.
