Viper RC -
I just saw the first review of the Maclan Diamondback MX.
It could very easily be a Viper product, looks like they used the engineering drawings and designs from the Copperhead VX4. If I had to guess, I would imagine it was possibly originally a replacement for the VX4. Even retains the Snake name.
I am just hoping that their sensored ESC offerings are along the same lines as the VTX10's, which I love.
There is simply no denying the similarities between the Diamondback and the Copperhead VX4.

well, there is one big diff from what I recall about the viper escs:
well, at least they are as the same as Tekin in that regards, though I was hoping they could at least match Hobbywing at 180 days for companies that target racing in general. (not saying this esc is for that, but in general the warranty period was about the same for the escs). Considering what Castle stuff is used for, I wonder how they do it at 1 year.
Well, now that these are on the way, anyone want a Viper VTX10R-BE with Progauge?
b. Maclan Racing offers all electronic products with average of 120 days of factory warranty unless specify on the product packages.

After that timeframe the chances of a defect from the manufacture of the product are incredibly low. The highest percentage of defect due to manufacture are within first few days of use. After that the probability goes down at a high rate. Doesn't mean the stuff isn't designed to last years. Just the reality of electronics and how we all use them.
especially if the price point between the other options is the same.
I can only imagine the expense I would have incurred because of that Xpert servo if I had decided it was just a bad esc versus the servo killing the ESC which is did repeately. Luckily the later ones were under warranty and I was at least out only out $100 versus probably $500.
Though, it would have been nice if I would have at least gotten a kiss or a shirt for my $100

Speaking of which, did you guys every figure out why that particular servo was able to kill Viper VTX8s like I kill ribs? I still view the vids I sent of the issue with some amusement these days.

The VTX8s though were great, loved them, just hope you guys can make whatever new is coming have some of the features we requested instead of just internal changes that don't translate to something you actually see (like sensorless operation, power switch that if gets damaged can be easily replaced without bricking your ESC, etc).
Lastly, how long before we see the new stuff oriented for racing and will the 1/8 stuff still be waterproof?

[QUOTE]No. In 2 1/2 years we have not seen anything like your situation happen again. It could not be duplicated here or at the factory.
Yes and no... this is a debate that can and will go on and on.... I think we have always had a pretty similar in message - defects are possible, it can happen. We accept and admit that. The end user should also be willing to accept and admit that over time how they use the unit has the potential to cause a failure as well. We put these little cars through a lot. The reason something breaks or fails may not be the result of the last 30 seconds. But and total accumulation of 'xxx' hours of running.
Oh, will there be a thread for the new brand?
Looks like Viper is still making the VF8. Amain has them on preorder.

need help here. I got a vtx1 in that powers up fine. However, when I try to do the calibration process it never goes past just the single red light. Just sits there. I have to pull the battery lead to get it out of that.
Any ideas? I got a race tomorrow I want to use this at but won't be able to if this is still an issue.
I am trying this is 1S, does it need to be 2S?
