Once again, A62 was suggested as a 'cure-all' by people who have access to A62 (not sure if they're team drivers or whatever) in the SCT410 thread, and specifically heat problem remedies. Which I am currently dealing with in my SCT410/VTX8. They made it sound like A62 was the fix and it was available to everyone. If A62, software in general, won't fix anything, that's fine. I was just peeved enough to post something about it, since I ordered a PC Link shipped overnight so I could upgrade before my next race. (which coincidentally, was rained out)

And yes, the only people who (are supposed) to have accesses to A62 are team drivers.

Shawn - again sorry for any mis-information, but the drivers are told not to release info until we are ready to give it to the public. We actually found a glitch in that version and its being changed already - its all part of the testing process.

Wildcat and Doogie - The pictures from today of Lee's car are Much More motors. He and Travis have been running Thunder Power in preparation for the Worlds - Lee tried Much More yesterday at NorCal, haven't spoken to him yet to see what he decided.
IFMAR wouldn't allow our motors because they took to long to take apart for the inspection process. They were completely within the rules, but since there are no holes in the can to measure the stack, it takes to long. Thunder Power and Much More have been kind enough to help Lee and Travis.

Is there a rule on how accessible a motor has to be for teching purposes?

Officially the motor needs to be measured accurately, within what they consider a "reasonable time". We built a motor that would be tamper proof, so its not like you can easily take the stator out of it to measure it. Also, at the time of its design, we weren't planning on IFMAR events - we are just starting to grow enough to move on to the world stage. Next generation of motors will be designed to meet not only ROAR rules, but BRCA, and IFMAR.
Right now the focus is on the speed controls. Lee and Travis are both really excited for the Worlds. I will post some pics up later in the week, when I get to Chico.

How far out are you thinking for new 1/10 motors? That is probably the only thing I have heard light applause when asked about for 17.5 spec racing versus what I have heard on your racing ESCs for 1/8 and 1/10.

Quite honestly, we will not release a new version of 1/10 motors until the current crop of "illegal" motors is "officially" deemed illegal. Right now any motor we would come out with would be compared to that motor - which has been shown to be outside the rules. So it would not be fairly viewed by some in the general racing public. So we will continue to test.
Right now we want to get the 4 pole motors done. Then move on to next generation motors and speed controls. Work has already started on the new motors - in fact we have tested 2 different versions, both better than the last but that "other motor' is still out there

sounds good. Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with as I have been impressed so far with the Viper VTX8 and the customer service that you offer.
I hope that for a future ESC, maybe something in a "Just Stock" configuration could be offered that is 1S out of the box capable with boosting internally. Out here 1/12 class is big for 17.5 and 13.5 blinky. More of a touring guy myself for onroad but with my daughters interest in RC growing, would love to make the trip so she can experience indoor carpet racing.

Good practice day at the Worlds - Lee had second fastest times in Fastest 2 combined laps and race distance. Travis was in chaotic heat, no really clean laps.
So today is the first big day of the week, everyone officially on the clock - fingers are crossed, hoping for some good results!!!

Wow...I took advantage of the trade in program Viper offers and stepped up from my old VTX10 to the VTX10R black edition. I was a bit nervous about how long I would be out an ESC but they were on it, processing it and shoving it back out the door like it was on fire! Barring any USPS problems I should easily have it back for this weekend. Freakin' awesome as always!
