I read some threads on the viper forums and it sounds like one of the issues that was posted over there. The next time I'm at the track I will make a note of what lights are on and a more detailed explanation for you, so I can get it solved.

Thanks for the replies.

Would a Savox 1251 cause my issues? The bec is set at 6.0v, but wondering if it's enough. Could I turn it up to say 6.4 without issue to make sure that brownouts aren't the issue? I've read issues of brownouts with the Savox 1251.

Could be. High draw servos tend to brown out the RX. What Futaba RX is it?

Would upping the bec output help any? I may switch from the savox 1251 low profile to a spektrum 6040 if I discover this is the issue.

Default 17.5

I sure this has been asked. What is the diameter of the 17.5 rotor?

Thanks

Running into a prob with my vtx8/pro 4 4600 combo. First two packs I ran. Red lights flashing on either wms of the switch. No middle green. Servo but no motor. Unplug and plug and works. Any ideas?

My first guess would be that the motor thermal protection circuit kicked in.

If you have it enabled you will need to set the cutoff to 220 to 230 as the internal temp will be higher then the external (can) temp. With my VTX10R/VST13.5 I was having the same problem. I had the protection set at 180 and if would shut off but can temp was only 120. I bumped cutoff to 230 and havn't had a problem since.

StPete - just what Riverbluff said. Reason behind this is the measurement is done on the rotor, inside the motor which has higher heat level that what is measured on the outside of the can. Same effect happens with ESC Temp cut off as well.

Rybeau40 - the servo drawing too much effects the receiver, not the speed control - when turning your servo check the light on the receiver and see if it start blinking, could mean its draining power the receiver needs to operate. Its more an issue between the servo and rx.

I have run savox servos on my airtronics receivers without the use of a cap and no issues with brown outs.

Huge congratulations to JP Richards for winning the 2wd Open class at the Reedy Race of Champions using a Viper VTX10R. He had 2 awesome A main races, after great rounds of qualifying, he was 1 bobble from TQ'ing the event as well. Also bumped up once (almost twice) in 4wd with a brand new car he only had for a few weeks.

Great job by Lee Martin and Travis Amzecua in the Invitation classes -- winning six rounds combined. Lee was 6th and Travis 11th out of 30 of the worlds best.

Also want to note some great sportsmanship I saw from our guys - Paul Sinclair and Travis went out several times to marshal events when they were looking for volunteers - just shows we have some qualities guys on and off the track.

Would using the proguage to turn up the bec volts help this possible issue?

I agree. I thought Viper had an outstanding Reedy Race. From the numbers of time a Viper team member was getting interviewed to the number of times I saw them hop out and turn marshal. Was just really proud of the Viper Team. Travis was crazy fast in 4wd. Lee is always at the top. Then the Open class win. After a great showing at the Worlds and now the Reedy Race.....Viper is getting much more exposure and showing the quality products that they produce.

Any chance we could get some set info on what the guys are running at the Reedy (esc settings and gearing)?

Jeff
