Google is my number 1 source for adverts, If there is something I want to know about I search it then go to forums and read up on the people using the item

I do check here for info and customer experience. It means a lot to see a rep be active in a thread as well. I also go through my old magazines and see if there is a review in there. But primarily customer experience and price is my driver behind purchasing. I think the current SMC battery thread is a great example of this.

For those looking to buy the VTX8, great deal on amain right now, especially with the 10% off thing they do, about $160 shipped with the EZ Link!

This is a new hobby for me so I googled and came here and read around. I also read Velocity RC, it's a digital only magazine, where I have seen Viper ads and reviews.
I can't recall what made me choose the VTX8, but it may very well have been this thread. Good threads like this are important.

Nikos - Thanks for your help. I got a 14t pinion today and am looking forward to racing tomorrow!
BTW, I get product info from here and other forums, manufacturer websites, reviews on store sites like a-main, facebook and sites like rcsoup.com. I like print magazines but am online more.
Looking forward to 4-pole Sept. (fingers crossed)

So, any tips I should keep in mind when installing the VTX8?
Any recommended starting settings for 1/8 Buggy on 4S (2050Kv or 1900Kv motor) and 1/10 4x4 SCT with a 4 pole 550 motor (HW 4000Kv), 2S usage?

Cain, in my SCT410 with a Hobbywing 4700 I started with throttle punch at 80 and forward power at 100. It was crazy. Dropped the throttle punch all the way to 60 and forward power to 80 and it's much more controllable, but still bordering a handful. The hand held programmer is awesome and so easy to make frequent changes. Still fine tuning with setup and tires but this was a good spot with the motor and esc. Also dropped motor temps about 30 degrees from where I started.

Also Cain, be careful how you have your wires. The all aluminum case has fairly sharp edges so be cautious especially with the on/off switch wires. Mine was BARELY touching the case and started rubbing through the wire insulation, but luckily I caught it immediately. A little split fuel tubing and zip ties can help to protect the wire.

have a issue with my motor. its the 8.5. Was runnign fine earlier in the day but seemed like it was cogging a little after I crashed. So when I started the main it was good then I lost power to the motor, then it would go again then it started cogging and I pulled it off the track. Got back to the pits and I tryed it again and all it did was make like a beep nosie coming from the esc and I could feel the motor try to turn and it started cogging and again and then it stopped and I seen just a little smoke come from it. What could be the issue? Im very picky about my equipment and Im running blinky and with bascially all the standard esc settings. Motor wasnt hot and the esc was not either. runnning it in a 22 buggy with the stock spur with a 23 pinion. If the motor is bad what is the warranty with the motor? I have not had it a year yet.
