Ok, really troubled here. 22SCT geared 86/18 with a 9.5 Viper and VTX10. Running a tight carpet track, profile 2 (no boost even though its a open class) and Im pushing 175 on the motor after 6 mins. People here have said I need to gear up. I tried that, did a 20,22,24 pinion and it made it even hotter after 5 mins. Then went the other way - went to 15 & 16 pinion and temps got down to 140 after 5 mins. But so many said I needed to gear up with vipers.
I am ready to move to profile 3 and start working the adv timing & boost but wonder what kind of heat that will add. I need some very quick acceleration without the need for big top speed as the longest straight is prolly 16 feet.
Anyone have some tight, technical ESC settings that works with a 9.5 motor? Do I have the wrong turn motor for a very tight carpet track in which I dont need top speed?
I have left the end bell on the motor at 30 degree which came at that setting from factory.
Can I get some help?

Joe, carpet off road is such a different beast. Depending on how small it is, I can see you having to gear really low with a lower turn motor, because it has no room to accelerate. If you want to try boosted its a little bit of testing to find the right st up. Follow these steps. http://www.rctech.net/forum/9888479-post3003.html

Viper: Do you sell motor stickers by themselves? The sticker on one of my 4.5 copperhead motors came off and I'd like to stick another on if possible.
This is the motor sticker I'm referring to:

Matt - sorry they come from the factory overseas with the labels applied. I will see if the boss can bring some back with him next visit - PM sometime soon to remind me.

I'm thinking of building a 1/10th touring car for some parking lot fun. Not bashing, just cornering, sliding, drifting, etc. I'm not going to race, so I have no class requirements. Viper VST seems like a good sensored solution, especially since I want some good bottom end. Which VST would you recommend for that kind of kit?
Thanks!
Thanks!
