Ok, not trying to sound mean, but my Viper is slow as doggy do do....lol. I bought a Copperhead 3900 kV. I am comparing it to the Castle 3800 system I also run. I run it in a Losi SCB. I don't race, but just run on outdoor tracks only, so no street bashing or speed runs. Only run on 2s. The thing lacks a little punch and then gets about 15' down the straight and flat out falls on it face. Like an old four stroke, just no revs. Geared 21/86. Temps are cool (never over 120 on motor). I gear my Castle the same and it flat out rips. I mainly bought the Viper for the hand held programming ease. For what I do, I don't want to carry a laptop. I like to go to 3 different outdoor tracks and would like the ability to change settings for each. I do have the Progauge.
Batteries are 6000 mAh, 65c in case someone wants to know.

wright - would be interested to know what throttle settings you are running on the esc as well. Like Dan said, if your at 120, another tooth, maybe two (check with a temp gun to be sure, go one at a time).
I ran a 10.5 in stadium truck and really liked it because it was enough power to get me what I wanted but not crazy. Could throw a little boost at it if I needed more straight line speed.
Thank for the comments on what to run this weekend. I will be at the Gallimods Trophy race guy. Don't have a truck to borrow (not into that kinda think, I like my own stuff). Don't know if there will be enough time between classes to fully change the motor. Just feel like running both classes getting some track time.

No Bobby, the new BE edition uses a little different circuit board, hence the different caps. However, if you notice, there is an updated cap board on all the newest VTX's. I will have to see if I can find a pic to get it posted.

Just got back from Amain Hobbies Indoor Jconcepts nats, 3 long days and I'm really happy on how everything went. Friday was all day practicing. Saturday was 3 heats and Sunday was one more heat and the mains. All 3 of my cars where running good but I did have up and down moments. I pretty much finished mid pack in every class except truck I did a little better. 2wd buggy I'm running a VTX10-7.5, 2wd truck, Black VTX10R-7.5 and 4wd buggy, VTX10R-7.5.

Nick, Just wanted to say thank you!!! I used those directions you emailed me and everything is working perfect now with my VTX10R and 8.5 Viper system! Those directions they send in the package are garbage!!! I saved yours and will use for all calibrating. Chad Segner (Segner RC Dirt)

lol Thats exactly what i have, just not sure which motor i want, i keep hearing great things about sensored motors for RWD sct's, right now I have a tacon 5000kv 540 sized sensorless in there but i havent run it yet. Just got the truck the other day.

Not familiar with that speed control, but if it runs sensored brushless motors - that's what we make!!!!

Spawne- biggest advantage you will see with sensored systems is smoother throttle control. Sometimes sensor less system will hesitate or seem a little jerky. Yes it's generally a cheaper purchase, but sensored will generally give better performance.

Nikos do you know when we can expect the VST black edition motors to be released? Id like to wait and get the upgraded model if it wont be too much longer, i keep seeing that they come with internal fans and such.

my VTX10 ESC capacitor exploded last week so i ordered new one on amain and im 100% i put them the right way i looked at my other VTX10 ESC..now my ESC wont turn the motor or power the pro gauge..i hear the beep cycles and the lights turn on the switch when i plug it to the batter and push the button to power it on..never had problem with my other one..i bought this as a Combo w/ProGauge at amain.. i used only on my 22 buggy running 2S no bashing track use only using viper motor..got it on NOV last year..can i still get a replacement esc or something? do i need to call viper and tell them? i really like this esc..
thanks

thanks

iMarky - go through all the wire connections again, if you are getting power and hearing the tones on the start up, it means the sensor wire is working and power is working - check your motor wires both on the esc and motor to see if there is a cold solder joint. Maybe even try a different motor - something had to cause that spike that blew out the the capacitor. Yes our speed controls are covered by a 365 warranty against any manufacture defects. If the cause wasn't a mfg defect, we can still find a way to help you out. If you check the wires and motor, and it doesn't solve the problem, send it back to use - follow the RMA return procedure on our website.

BE speed controls should be available next week to 10 days. Motors are still a little ways off. We haven't completed the total package yet, this motor won't be released until we know it hits all the performance specs we want. Basically we would rather wait and sell you one awesome product later than an OK one now, and a better one in a few months.
