Hey guys, I'm really thinking of replacing my mmp's to viper esc's. That being said have any of you viper users ever used an Orion r10 pro or lrp sxx comp v2 esc? I want to know how the vtx10r compares to these esc's as far as smoothness and power output. C'mon, sell me on viper products!
I have a sc10 with a ballistic 10.5...soon may trade up for a reedy sonic 7.5
And I have a sc10 4x4 with a reedy sonic 4.5. Both with a mmp but like I said I want to upgrade to a competition esc.
Thanks in advance for any info

I have used them all. I wouldn't buy the LRP sxx for a 4x4. I have seen to manny go up in smoke. Orions are very nice but if you have a problem with warranty your out of luck %90 of the time. I have been always been a tekin fan for awhile but had the opportunity to pick up a Viper 10R and I'm very impressed with the quality and performance.

If I can get some "HELP"... I need to purchase a new esc and couple motors for my 2WD SCT. I want to get the VIPER system, but couple people @ my track are pulling them from there vehicles. I asked one guy on sunday and he said when you pull the trigger it takes it awhile to get a repsonse off the start line. and after braking. I need to purchase an ESC, 8.5, and 17.5 but I dont want to blow $350 on the viper system and find out they were right. I race 2 days a week and that would be disaster for me. Right now I run the Viper ESC and 5150KV in my 4WD. My other 2wd has a tekin in it and it is very resposive. Can you please "PM" with some answers or suggestions? I don't like going back thru these to read them all.

PS: Is anyone from Viper @ the RC Pro Series Northeast this weekend?????

So I think I fixed my problem. I had to turn the throttle end point down to 84 to get it to stop losing steering at full throttle. How can I verify that I am still getting full throttle?

C Branch - look at the switch the red light should be solid if you are getting full throttle throw. Weird situation, haven't seen that one - unless your receiver is betting a voltage spike -- what motor are you running? what radio system?

Jtipsy - I normally gear a little higher than that with a 8.5 in SC - maybe a 22. And I dont know gear diffs very well, does 10k fluid take a while to spin up or do you get some wheel spin with that set up.

spider - if they are running our sensored systems like the VTX series, doesn't make sense, they are very responsive and smooth. Now if they are using our Copperhead unsensored system I could see it, if they have never used a system without a sensor, but there is an option in the programing called Start Power that can help adjust the feel. I run the Copperhead in my 4wd SC and feel very little "lag" between neutral and power. I will PM you more.

Bondobird - Our equipment is just as smooth and powerful as LPR, with easier (and more) adjustments. Smaller footprint. If you run boosted classes - we have a phenomenal program that will let you have boost that you can actually control. Plus - we manufacture all of our own equipment. We warranty all of our equipment from our facilities here in the US - no waiting 6 weeks for a returned item - if it even gets to that. Live customer support - and factory reps on the forums to answer your questions and help with set up. Oh buy the way - our stuff is generally a little cheaper through your hobby shop and on line sites. How does that add up for you?

Adds up real well actually. 8-) I've heard nothing but great about you guys. If it wasn't for the copperhead system being postponed I would have a 5150 system in my 4x4. What's the current output on the 10 and the 10r? Both constant and burst?

I have never had anyone ask me that -- let me find out.

With the Copperhead - we wanted to get it right, even when we did, we saw an issue and recalled them to make sure it was right. Its the smoothest sensorless system out there, with the adjustability as well - its pretty awesome for $150 system.

I am running the Viper 17.5. I have turned up the BEC to 6.5 and it didn't have any effect. I am using a Flysky radio for now.

The flysky radio receiver is really weak in signal voltage think it is like 3.5. Its horrid. Have you tried a different radio. I went from flysky to futaba 3pks and now spektrum dx3r. Noticed a huge improvement on my esc to receiver signal and how much easier it was to calibrate and get enough power to the receiver.

I have a brand new vtx1 that won't turn on at all. It run for 2 minutes after install and was working just fine. I setup my drag brake to what I ran with the Vtx10 and restarted the speedy. It ran for 2 seconds and the lost all power to the speedy.

Thanks viper. The best service I've come across. All issues resolved.

jasum14 - basics first - all wires connected, plugs are solid connection, getting lights on the switch, sensor wire plugged in? Also check to see if you plug in the progauge that it shows your s/w version and profile. PM me if that didn't help.

The red light is staying on steady at full throttle. Should I worry about it, or just run it as is?
