Coaltrain- try setting the end points at 100 and re calibrate. Make sure the light on the switch is solid when at full throttle. My SC10 4wd seemed pretty quick on the street and the track!! I have to admit it seemed faster when having to stay within the pipes .

Here is what I ran at the SC Showdown series if it helps you get in the ballpark:
Brake strength- 69
Brakenfreq - 9600
Brake curve- linear
Dynamic brake - disabled
Drag brake- *0
throttle freq- 12000
Throttle punch - 25
Curve - linear
Dead band -narrow
Motor power - n/a
SBEC- 6
Forward power - 88
Battery cut off - 6.4
Motor temp - disable
Esc temp - 240
Geared 62-14 on a SC10 4wd. VTX10R/VST5.0L

I was expecting the 5150 to be insane and it seems fast just not what I would expect a 4pole 550 5150kv. Granted this is just in my driveway it may be much different on the track, I'll find out tomorrow.
I would go up to 14t pinion maybe even a 15t.
I tested the R51 w/ a 16t...temps were still well WNL. It's scary fast

IMO, a 13t is too small. Unless your on a very small track.

Its a very large track, 1/5 can run on it. I'll try a 14 tomorrow when I get there go up to a 15 if needed. Thanks for the help.

6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other. The R51 is uncensored, the economy package will save you money. Both have very good performance, I have used them at some big SC races this year.

Both are good.
The Copperhead system is just a great low cost option that one can choose.
I have raced with both and either one would be just fine with me.

Default Bad customer service

Well where do I begin? I purchased a viper system From the the hobby shop I am employed at, my second one. I installed it in the car and nothing. The lights on the ESC light up with the F N R still nothing. I redid all connections and still nothing. So I call and spoke to Eric with Viper he suggested to hook up the ESC to another motor, again nothing. Called Eric back and told him it had to be the ESC. Well Eric gets mad and gives me an attitude then proceeds to tell me everything is tested before it leaves the warehouse. I must have done something wrong and to go to the website and print an RMA.
I have wired many motor systems over the last few years having never messed one up working in the hobby shop. I would never treat a customer the way I was treated by Viper or I would expect to loose my job. In the end it is no hair off my arse, I will just stop pushing the Viper product out the door. If you cant stand by your product no need to sell it. Team Tekin here I come back.

Brian,

If you have an issue with our product and our support you can most definitely contact someone else through the organization. Working in a hobby shop you must know that the first corrective step to try and trouble shoot a problem is to try and eliminate factors that could cause the problem. If one exists, we do replace them free of charge (of course) via our RMA process. Yes, every unit goes through a testing before it leaves the factory. I would love to say everyone is perfect but the reality of any product is that it can happen. Are you mad it didn't work, sure you are, I am sure you had a race or something you wanted to do with. We all hate it when this stuff happens. But we will work with you to get it replaced. PM me with you RMA info and when you sent the unit in and I will ask the service folks to keep you in the loop (something we already do) on the replacement. And we will work to get you running as soon as possible.

I was frustrated that the motor did not work and had no issues with trying a new motor. I go through the same thing working in a hobby shop. I was mad at the way I was talked to by your CSR.

Man, I give props to all the guys at Viper. They answer the phones themselves and deal with all sorts of issues, some dumb and some legit.

I own a business myself and try to be polite to every customer. Reality is the day is full of idiots..I'm sure he meant no disrespect. As a HS employee you know how trying some customers can be. Maybe the call or calls before yours was with a person that tried his patience.

I agree there are some real idiots in this world that have no business in this hobby. I have installed many a viper systems with no problems this is why I purchased two for myself. I am happy this happened to me and not a customer of the shop I work at. However it still sucks to be talked down to. I have talked to the dealer we purchase from and they are sending me another one. I do validate that there are steps to be taken to determine the problem and did not want to be just sent another system. As a hobby shop rep I have been spoiled by the other manufactures I have had to deal with. As for the other Viper system I have I do love it and no problems.

Copperhead ran great today, pretty smooth and just as fast as the pro4 4600 on the track. Qualified 4th out of 50 in 4wd corr on opening day, mains rained out. Only complaint is its kinda noisy, like a high pitched whine/squeal. Is this normal?

Not sure I would call it a squeal but yes the motor is louder than most, faster than most to
